This weather STINKS..What about yours?
Comments (7)Hi Mike!! Yesterday it was 80 degrees.. Then the cold front hit and it dropped the temps down into the mid 30's. mmmmmhmmmm , had to bring in 40 large Plumeria. All of the others trees and tropicals are still under the lights upstairs and in the greenhouse. I thought I could bring out the mature trees in the hopes of the temps being around the mid forties, but NOOooooooo! Wind gust up to 70... We had a huge coal ship break for its mooring and was adrift in the bay.. I have never seen weather like this. It's totally unbelievable. I'm really tired of this weather ... If I was in Florida.. I wouldn't be complaining!!! ;-). Lucky you!!! Hi Josh... I was thinking of you last night. My Squill needs to be repotted and I'm going to split them . How are yours doing? Happy spring to you!!! Comments (4)"IMO physically turning mulch exposes me to more mold spores than I am interested in inhaling, although I admire people that have the fortitude to do it." Just imagine bathing in the pollution on the rush hour highway, most people around here don't know compost, but I'm sure they would all rather roll in the leaves than breath that exhaust. Look in some of your processes food, research the hard to pronounce ingredients. There's a lot of more concerning things in the world than turning your compost, which I would rank up to one of the most healthiest activities you could probably do today. If you would of seen me the other day, mixing perlite/peat to make my seed starter... I looked like Montana, perlite dust all in my nose. The peat, sticking to my facial hair, making me look like a damn gorilla! I'm sure inhaling that isn't to great neither. I'm normally extremely anal about that kind of stuff, but i couldn't find a mask, and quite frankly just needed to get it done. But i could tell you, that burning in your throat and nose when inhaling perlite/peat dust, you don't get any of that from turning compost or digging in a few leaves....See MoreAnyone here know about stink mushrooms?
Comments (13)These are not in mulch at all. They are growing in the soil where a tree used to be and I believe are growing on the old dead roots of that tree. The tree died some time ago, it was a lilac. I planted a butterfly garden around where the tree was. Unfortuantely some of these plants are now in danger of being lost because these things are popping up. I have some special plants in there (fern leaf peonie, peach maltese cross, unusual coneflowers etc.) that I may not be able to get again. I am being very careful about pouring the vinegar because I do know it will kill the plants but my hope is it will kill any spores that have dropped into the soil. I haven't had a chance to check out there yet today as I have been at work. I will when I get home later. Thanks again for all the ideas/help....See MoreWhat is this and why does it stink?
Comments (5)Does your washer drain into something to the right of those hoses? This might have been an old stand pipe for draining the washer, if you have another one to the right of this picture. There would be a trap at the bottom of this, and it took this long for the water in the trap to evaporate. You can get a cap at HD or Lowes in the plumbing dept....See Moreabrahamx
