wwyd with my lr windows?
Comments (14)Love your windows and the feel of your room. My suggestion, which is what you have already been doing would be to just do a panel on either end of the decorative rod. Sounds like you do not have privacy issues, so you don't need to close the drapery or sheers. I love the way the windows look when they are just "framed" by a drapery material. I have done the same in our home as we have double 84"x36" Marvins in my foyer and adjoining LR. I treat each "set" as one window. I didn't want to cover up the windows as we have no privacy issues. I found sheers (JCP soft gold) that match my wall color which makes the sheers practically disappear. I found decorative rods that I really liked (also JCP) and let the sheers frame the window. They can be closed, but we've never done it. Worked well as DH hates drapery - says they remind him of a funeral parlor. LOL His uncle is a funeral director/med examiner and the family lived over the funeral home for years. I am not really a fan of valances, but it's your room to do what you like. However, my vote is for framing not covering those windows. Please post a pic of what you decide to do! Again, love your room!...See MoreWindow treatments for a bay window
Comments (5)If this is a first floor room you might need to cover the entire window? If so, I would consider plantation shutters. If it is a second story room you could just go with cafe shutters or cafe curtains. I much prefer natural light rather than using shades....See MoreHow I dress these unusual bay windows?
Comments (2)If you do a google image search for "curtains in dormer window", you'll see a bunch of ways that people have done this - the most interesting (I think!) being hinged curtain rods that fold against the walls when you want them open. You could do anything from a simple roller shade to a more elaborate curtain situation....See MoreHelp with window treatments for Victorian bay windows and picture rail
Comments (9)First off you have beautiful home and congratulation on your new home. I'd suggest going to the floor if you're going to go with curtains on these window and if you're okay with going above the picture rail i'd suggest that. Going above the rail will just add height to your room. 1/4'' is going to be too narrow to do an inside mount. If you like the idea of having some of your trim show you can always mount on your trim, but just don't cover it all. Honeycomb and roller shades would be good pairing options with curtains. A roller shade will project out farther than a honeycomb shade.... just something to consider. If you're open to suggestions on an alternative option consider an Illusion shade. They have a modern look and give you versatility with light and privacy. The illusion shades are beautiful on their own or look nice with panels as well....See More2pups4me
