Comments (4)hi ginny, yes, certainly modern, victorian STYLE! but still, maybe it can be got for a low price and quite the deal could be had in it,imo. skinners, like most auctioneers, have a regular auction that is called 'discovery' or 'variety' or some other attractive sounding euphemism- for things that are either not good enough to go in one of the regular auctions that @ dept has, or are part of an estate-settlement where an auction house is after a number of top quality items but must accept the lesser quality along with those. aside from retail clients, there are a large number of 'antique dealers' at the lower end of the scale- who are customers at this category of auctions.also, sometimes very good items pop up that don't fit into one of their regular auction categories, or that otherwise slip through the cracks. best, mindy...See Morereproduction victorian furniture

Comments (15)nooooo!! no steel wool! use Soy Gel and a scraper. very carefully. SoyGel cleans up w/water. the others you have to use a neutralizing wash. the steel wool catches on the wood, can be left behind, and will rust and turn the wood orange. (and it discolors the wood while you're stripping it) Plus, it's just not good for the wood. you have to let the stripper sit (at least 30 mins) for it to do its thing. it may take a few times. any left over finish use a orbital sander and 80 grit to start. stay away from the edges. go lightly until the remaining stain is sanded off. then move to 120, 150 and 220. you can do it by hand if it's easier for you...See MoreUser
