Quartz countertop edge

Hello. I have finally decided to use Caeserstone Bianco Drift for my new countertops. The countertop place offers only an eased edge for free. The bevel and ogee edge would be another $275 onto an already pricey bill. The salesperson recommends the 1/4 bevel edge because it is said to make countertops look thinker and is less likely to chip. Can any of you quartz countertop owners give any advice? I greatly appreciate the help!

I have 1/4 edge bevel granite. I have never thought it made them look thicker.

I don't think the bevel makes the edge appear any thicker than it does with a standard eased edge. Eased edge will appear thicker than a bullnose edge. If you're worried about chipping, I wouldn't go with an ogee.

Looking at your pictures it appears the areas you are saying were damaged never had paint on them to begin with. It looks like there was either a range with a higher back in that area or some sort of backsplash that was painted around the first time. When that was removed the areas that were not painted now show.

Resin pooling is a feature, not a bug, at least according to the manufacturers. They can be drilled, filled, and polished.

Is this acceptable for a quartz countertop waterfall edge?

The point of a waterfall is a continuity of the slab's character from the top "flowing" down the side. That requires a mitered joint where the horizontal and vertical pieces meet. The material selected doesn't have the movement characteristic of a waterfall; it's not a good choice. The lamination of the two vertical pieces is horrible as Joseph Corlette noted.

Counter top edges are not important to me, except to say the plainer the better. I have used a straight edge (plain) on my granite and quartz counter tops, with no regrets. My granite straight edge has chipped in 2 places. My quartz has not chipped.

In my experience with renovations, if there's something you want, and it costs a little more, just do it. I have lived to regret not doing the little extras, that cost a little more (relatively speaking) in order to prevent the already huge bill from getting bigger.

An eased edge is always my preference all the others seem dated to me.
