Emerald Green Arborvitae- brown at bottom
Comments (4)They look in reasonably decent shape to me. You will often get some browning and/or loss of foliage at the base, primarily due to the topgrowth shading it out. Wall is probably not helping much either. As long as there is not a steady progression upwards, they should be fine. Winter burn - typically wind desiccation - is unlikely to be much of a factor in October, when this was posted. And I will refrain from commenting on the reliability of horticultural info presented by The Spruce or any of its garden writers except to say that there are much better sources....See MoreHelp, what's going on with my emerald green arborvitae
Comments (4)never use tree spikes again .. waste of money and effort ... where did you put them .. very close to the plant ... imo ... trees .. of which conifers are.. never need fert ... i suspect they were damged before you got them.. rather minor ... and some of what you are seeing.. was caused by winter finishing that job ... how did you plant them.. and how did you care for them during the heat of summer .. into fall ... drip irrigation require long periods of watering.. to get the water deep down to where the roots are ... and then allowing them to near dry before deep watering again ... if you did just a short period of watering.. they may not have been watered properly ... none of the brown is going to revive.. its dead .. start trimming it out back to live growth.. and then decide if you can live with them ... and if they are only going to aggravate you every time you look at them .. get rid of them ... but you ight give them until fall before you make that decision ... hopefully you will be surprised how god they look ... after you remove the brown ... ken https://sites.google.com/site/tnarboretum/Home/planting-a-tree-or-shrub...See MoreEmerald Green Arborvitaes Changing Colors Again
Comments (3)Ok the 2nd picture the trees on both sides are a lot greener. Also in the last picture the tree next to it has a bit of the leaves showing that are greener. The 3rd picture is a different tree. it looks like some of the leaves have a reddish color on them. But all three have a large portion of the tree that is turning orangish yellow....See MoreNew Emerald Green Arborvitae tips turning brown & discoloration
Comments (3)they are conifers.. which are trees ... and things dont happen all that fast ...usually .... i would also actually check moisture at root level.. use a hand trowel or tablespoon ... to get down 3 to 4 inches ... watering is an art.. rather than a science.. meaning.. its not a schedule thing ... and no one knows how to water in your soil .. until you figure it out .... and if that is proper ... then it was probably shipping damage ... how you moved them home.. or from grower to seller ... significant damage ... would not start at the growth tips.. unless they were damaged as suggested ... ken...See MoreEmbothrium
