I love Herons. I've seen them in Minnesota, Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Belize, and Costa Rica. They really seem to thrive in a wide range of climates. This one is from the canals along the east coast of Costa Rica. "Hola mi Canadiense hermano, ÿCómo es el pescado allí?"

I was taking kitchen scraps to the compost pile when I saw this grasshopper. I went back and got my camera. He had not moved. Most of the time when something like that happens, by the time I return to the spot, the insect is gone!

Can't get a good frontal pic, but here it is from the side and then a little different angle where the size is more apparent. The owner disappears in an instant when I come near.
