alwazeroom4more, The Pawpaw,Asimina triloba doesn't have a separate male and female plant.It's the way the flowers are timed to be fertile that causes them to need another variety to produce fruit.The Sunflower variety is about the only one I've heard to be self fertile. There are other species related to Asimina triloba (Asimina incarna, A. longifolia, A. obovata, A. parviflora, A. pygmaea, A. reticulata, A. tetramera, A. X nashii)that grow more in the Southeastern US.Asimina Triloba requires about 400 chill hours. I have some seedlings,three varieties of A.triloba,but not sure if they are compatible in your zone. I've received the Sunchokes from someone whom I'm sending something other than the Purple Tree Collards, Oca and Tropaeolum tuberosum (Mashua). So I'm willing to send those out (probably together) for postage. I won't be harvesting the tuber crops for as much as a month. I'd like to send those to someone who has a chance to succeed with them. Since they are frost-sensitive, and don't form tubers until late in the Fall, they would of course be difficult in areas that get much frost before December. As crops from the high elevations of the Andes, I believe they are difficult in climates with hot summers. If anyone knows otherwise feel free to correct me. So I expect they would go to someone on the West Coast or who is otherwise able to deal with extremes of both hot and cold. If you are interested in these please contact me by email.

Since it is nearly impossible to harvest all the tubers in a field or garden, there will be a large number of volunteer plants the following spring. SIGNET: Don't worry about the penstemon. It was you but now I'm not sure if it was a penstemon after all. It was flowering at the time and had beautiful lightish blue bell flowers. But like I said not to worry, I should have taken it when you offered it. :) I would like some of your cherry red phlox, please. I'm trying to think what else you might have there that I would like since I have some catching up to you. I don't know if you saw my e-mail long time ago since you never answered it but I asked for pink peony poppy. I know it is not easy to transplant them.
