the care of crassula & jucca. please - urgent!
Comments (2)I would keep them out of the sun into a shady area...Probably a north facing window..Crassula and Jucca can go weeks without water..I had one that I forgot in the basement for 5 months and it is still thriving... Or, you could ask a friend or family member to water them once a week for you and keep them in their usual spots. That's the upside of these types plants..Sheesh, if that is all I had, I would finally be able to take a vacation for more than a couple of days.. Enjoy and relax......See MoreWANTED: Crassula Budda's Temple, Perfoliata, Pyramidalis, Pagoda

Comments (6)Ahh, good ol' Crassula perforata... my very first succulent. I found a piece of it on the sidewalk, brought it home and stuck it in some dirt. DIRT! I put that sucker directly in the sun... yep. Did it die? No. Did it grow? Not really. I still have it though, and about 4 or 5 of its clones in various places. It's easy to break a piece off of these plants. I just found a broken piece on mine today, matter of fact. The stem gets woody over time so it has no give when bumped. It's also weak at the joints so it snaps pretty easily, sometimes even from growth getting too heavy. It's easy to root the pieces in well-draining soil. Just carefully remove some of the leaves at the base, exposing about 1 inch, let the cuts and stem damage heal (callus) for a few days. You can use rocks to stabilize the plant while it's rooting. Don't water for at least 2 weeks, best done during the plant's growing season. I haven't had any luck growing these from leaves, and I've tried... not that it's necessary. Many succulents, though, can be grown from leaves....See MoreCrassula Green Pagoda Care
Comments (6)That tall one will eventually fall over, repot or not. I see lots of folks propagate from the leaves. I've had luck with stems with some leaves at the top. I'd cut the tall one above the bottom 2 leaves, divide the remaining stem into 2 sections, remove leaves from the bottom half of those sections and put the stem segments in with your repot. You could lay the leaves in there too. I don't know if that's ideal technique, but its worked on a similar plant for me. I'd guess its as much about the species being resilient....See More- 6 years ago
