I think I found out what has been causing the problems with my Bosch Benchmark dual fuel range Model # HDIP056U/06. Sometimes when the oven door is opened to either check on the food or remove the food, there is a considerable amount of steam rising out of the oven. This steam hits the front display panel and condenses on the surface of the display. For some UNKNOWN reason this stops the current mode the oven is in and goes to a default mode requiring an input on the panel. The display blinks for 10 seconds waiting for an input temperature and a "PRESS ENTER" input. While the panel has the condensed steam on the surface, the panel will not accept any inputs. After 10 seconds with no input on the screen it times out and shuts the oven off. Once the condensation on the panel evaporates, the panel works like it should and inputs are accepted. hvtech42: I agree with what you said about the swing, and I can also see why some would have an issue with opening from the left and essentially having to go around the door (unless open completely... which I would imagine you would do most of the time anyway). My current ovens are 13 yrs old. They are horrible. They don't seal properly, and the temp varies widely and - more troubling - inconsistently. I have had them serviced multiple times, but it seems nothing can be done. I honestly never know whether a dish will take an hour or 90 minutes. I cook extensively for family and entertain on a regular basis, so I am looking forward to a dependable oven.

I already have one single wall oven GE profile in a oven cabinet that is only about 5 years old. I could move that oven under the counter & put the side swing in the oven cabinet. That would allow me to install my warming drawer directly under that oven. I don't think it would be so bad being a little higher with the side swing door.

About all newer ovens beep before the actual set temp is reached. The manufacturers are expecting the carry over heat to finish getting the oven to the final temp. A heater element does not instantly get cold when the power is shut off to it. The element stays hot for a long time and this is the carry over heat.. For most casseroles, meats, etc. it is fine to put in the food when the oven beeps. For finer baking you should let your oven preheat for 30 mins or so to allow for heat soak to all the walls, racks, door, etc so the oven heat is balanced through out the oven.
