I'm scared to read what comes next, but I am glad your absence yesterday wasn't due to you dealing with your stomach problem.

My horses aren't there, Rose. Jodi is a friend.... Jody is my husband. A little confusing but spelled differently

Anyhow....either Jody or I take Jodi every day to feed her horses. I hate going over there so unless she needs help I stay in the truck because I know D, the wife, is crazy and they are usually drunk. I have hardly ever said a word to D, unless she is sober (rarely) but I have always been pleasant.

I know D and her husband, H, are usually drunk. They aren't just drunk, they are falling down drunk. Sometimes they can't make it to the house and they pass out in the truck or yard. Of course they aren't supposed to drink as conditions of their parole.

So yesterday I took Jodi to feed her horses and then we were going to go feed mine.

Drove up and D was sitting on the steps to the trailer. Jodi said to me, "She's drunk."

We were carrying a bale of hay, and D said, "Y',all look like two old ladies carrying that hay."

I said, "That's because we are old ladies."

She said "Shut up, you gray haired old c**". I've had enough of you."

I said, "what did I do?"

I should have known you can't reason with a crazy drunk.

She said, "Begging for money on FB. Did you ever think of helping Jodi?"

I said "I have never asked for anything.". Jodi said, " She does help me. She is the only one who does and anyway my house didn't flood. "

It escalated from there. I went back to the truck and she followed, calling me filthy names. I didn't say anything back to her, except she kicked the truck I was in and I told her to stop and she pounded on the hood. Jodi came up and tried to calm her down.

She told her again how much I have helped her. So D said, "Oh, I apologize.". I said, " You don't have to apologize. Get back from the truck...it doesn't belong to me.

That fipped her switch again and she tried to yank the door open, telling me she was going to beat my a$$. I had locked it.

Then she started yelling for me to get off her property. I swear I did not talk back to her or try to escalate this crazy episode. I backed the truck out and like a rabid dog, she ran after the truck.

I went on over to where my horses were and fed them.

Jodi told her, "thanks alot. That was the only person who helps me.". D said, ", Oh, I am sorry."

A little later the nice brother's girlfriend called me and I told her to tell Jodi to come to the road and I would pick her up.

I told Jodi...I will never go back over there. I guess Jody (my Jody,) will take her, but I won't.

I have never asked for anything from anyone. I didn't post the go fund me on my page. I appreciate what others have done but not only did I not ask for it, I didn't expect it.

She also yelled at me for getting free dog food. I have gotten free dog food for 20 years. Just the other day I took 150 lb of it and gave to them. That won't happen again.

Another thing she yelled about..she has a bunch of puppies. She knew I fostered pups one time for a rescue (that is very kind and helpful to me) and I didn't offer to take her puppies. Yeah, I had 3' of water in my house and I have 9 dogs..,.what I need is 6 more puppies.

And, by the way...D is 40 yrs old. I am almost 71.

So...this will not be forgotten. I will tell you what I am going to do in another post.

( As I write this, I am feeding Jodi's invalid mother. Jody took Jodi to get some hay donated for hurricane victims.)

oh boy Marilyn...is this "D"person the crack whore? Some of those hoggers? I recall a good lot of the crap that you've had from some of the neighbours near to you over the years.

Best stay away...and no,there is definitely no reasoning with a drunk.

Wow. Just wow. Sorry you had to go thru that. I don't blame you for never wanting to go back again. I'm sure she's extremely jealous that YOU have a lot of people that care about you and she probably has no one.

Moni, I am not sure which post you are talking about but I am not worried about it. She is just an ol' drunk. I don't care what she thinks. If she is caught drinking, much less driving and drinking, which she does, she will go back to TDC for s very long time and I intend to help her get there.

I am going to talk to Liverpool police and sheriff dept and next time she is on the road, I will call in on her.

I didn't want her to punch me yesterday and hurt me. She is a lot bigger and younger than me, so I didn't say anything to her but she is not going to get away with it.

Sorry to say , but that is what drink does to some people. You are right not to go there any more, and to ask Jodie to come to the road for pickup when you help her. It hurts when things like that happen, but you can not make people with that mind set believe anything other then what they do.

If nothing else, you need to defriend this crazy person and anyone associated with her (I don't do Facebook so I hope that's the right terminology) so she doesn't have access to your Facebook page.

Oh my gosh, that would be so upsetting! I would never step foot there again either.

Is the lady that you are staying with the 'Jodi' that has raised the most money by sharing on your go fund me page? That may be where the drunk found out.

Marilyn, you are a born caretaker, and lots of GW's love you for that. You are inspiring and brave, and many more things. But you have got to cut loose from that trash family and their problems, for your own good, and also for their good. At some point, people (Jodi) have to be able to pick themselves up and modify their life to live more comfortably within our society and culture. Many people struggle with finances, or latched-on adult children, but they don't tolerate it forever! Taking advantage of their neighbors and friends ignoring your own dire and overwhelming situation! That your "friend" lives her life in a way that allows you to be verbally abused, threatened, and takes advantage of you, and that she has made no changes in her situation to intelligently figure out better circumstances for herself, means that putting your hard-fought resources into her trashy family is pouring good money after bad. You have got to let that woman find another back-up plan that does not involve you. The most you should do is provide her some phone numbers of public resource centers, by text message. You have enough to handle, my goodness! Stay strong, woman.

And one more thing: it might be prudent to notify the police about her threats and physical assault....if only to lay groundwork in case of future escalation.

Marilyn I agree with everyone who says 'stay away'. There are some people who feed on drama, these sure seem like they are those kind of people.

Proud of you for keeping your cool. As the saying goes, "Silence is golden." You probably shouldn't have said anything at all to the drunk, but of course her beating on a truck that wasn't yours was an exception. I hope you can turn her in without her knowing who did and do NOT go back there again.

Marilyn, I'm glad you are old enough, mature enough to not let this person get in your head. (Maybe you've always been been strong like that, I don't know. I know my own skin has thickened over the years, which is a benefit of getting older!)

Sounds like you'd be doing all of us a favor if you talked to the police. No one needs a drunk on the road.

You didn't do anything to cause that. Don't feel one bit guilty. If you did. I hope not. You deserve better.

Ont_gal, they are hog hunters. It was H's son who stole Piggy Sue. He is a crack and meth addict but he doesn't live there now.

O.M.G. I doubt that there would be anyone that would start a Go Fund or donate a penny to someone like that. We gave to you, because you and your husband are good people and help all the animals. Yes, stay away, report for driving drunk before someone gets killed.

With all you have been through, she's just not even "up there" in the bigger scheme of things. I really feel for Jodi; hopefully she can find some other place to keep her horses and be done with these people for good. I had a cousin who had some trouble and also was not supposed to drink while on parole. They periodically stopped by his house to check (unscheduled). I just wonder if your police department would be able to do this.

I remember your talking about these people. You and Jodi go waaaaaay back. I'm glad your helping her.

Just what you needed when you're already stressed and tired. You're right, there's no reasoning with a drunk, no point in trying to explain anything. If she'd been sober you still wouldn't need to explain how pleased friends had been to help a little....that's between you and us. She's probably thinking how much fun she could have with the money if it had come to her ;0)

I wouldn't blame you if you turned her in for driving...your husband drives that road. I did that once - turned in a drunk driver. It was one Mothers Day Sunday, and we had just said goodbye to most of my immediate family, watched my brother put my mother, his wife, children, their dog into his car and drive off in the opposite direction. We'd met halfway at a restaurant that day.

DH and I had just gotten on the highway and started our 60 miles home, realized we were behind someone impaired, weaving wildly, two lane highway. I was getting more uneasy every mile and when he nearly took out a couple on a cycle, I called 911. I'd been thinking how glad I was my family was going in the other direction, then thought what about the families that are near and in danger. We followed him for about 35 miles while talking to the troopers, letting them know where he was. They'd had several calls, I wasn't the only one. But he pulled into a truck stop and they went by. We pulled in behind him, watched him toss a couple of empty beer quarts, buy more at the counter, drive out again. They finally stopped him just a few miles from our town. We pulled over again and I gave them my name and address in case they needed witness statement. They never called, his breath or blood test must have sealed the deal ;0)

Jodi is a pain in the butt, but she would do anything for me. A couple of years ago, I had it out with her over a horse deal. I eventually got over it. Sort of hate that I did. However, there is no one here we could stay with but her. We had no place to stay and needed to be close to the house and horses.

I don't associate with H and D and none of that family. Actually I don't associate with anyone. For one thing, I don't have time and many people come with problems. I don't need that.

Ugh, what a problem. Yep, the girl is an envious, bitter alcoholic and you're right in that there's no point in communication at all with her. You're such a good person to keep helping your friend and I'm glad she can offer you and Jody a roof until you can get back to your home--I hope that day comes soon.

Thank you. As soon as FEMA comes, we are going home.

FEMA will be at the city hall tomorrow to meet with people and answer questions.

Kath, I don't associate with psychos or anyone else. I have been here 20 years and I don't know a dozen people and some of them I don't associate with. The ones that I think are okay, I don't do much more than say hi if I see them somewhere. I honestly don't have time to socialize. When I get a little spare time, I have things I like to do, and it doesn't include other people....like spend time with my horses. Once in awhile I go to a horse or mule show and I socialize with those people because we have something in common.

Marilyn but you do socialize with people, everyone here at the table. LOL. But I know what you mean. I also keep to myself. I don't have time for drama and I'm not very trusting. I used to trust everyone but as I aged I also learned that I'm a bad judge of character.

You did everything right confronted with that situation with the drunk. Stay safe.

I hope you learn some things at the FEMA meeting that may help you Marilyn.

We know you'd like to go home, maybe someone there can tell you when that may happen. We'd like you home too, along with all those 4-footed friends. Let us know....

Sorry you are experiencing this - you have more than handled yourself with grace and class.. I highly encourage you to reach out to the police and let them know about her threats and more importantly about her (constant? regular) use of alcohol.

FEMA didn't have much to say....got to wait for the inspectors.

I will be glad to go home.Jodi, the lady we are staying with, is an alcoholic. She gets pretty drunk by the end of the day. She is not a mean drunk but she won't shut up. Gets s little old. She doesn't eat but one meal a day and then almost nothing. She does take care of her invalid mother and does a good job. She got her out of a nursing home because she was getting bed sores, so I respect her for taking on that. Most people wouldn't do it.

I'm sad for you and for every human addicted to something that robs them of their potential. The most amazing thing, the human brain, and they are pickling theirs with alcohol while making enemies and putting innocent animals at risk.

Someday hopefully it all will end. You're a light in the darkness. I wish they could see clearly.

Please don't expose yourself to her anger any more. The stress isn't good for you and they will never be grateful. Sorry for any person, any child, any animal in such a circumstance. When I think of what good these people could do if they came together to work on something instead of poisoning themselves or saturating their minds with anger and stressful tv........horrendous waste and it shouldn't be happening.

Most times there just aren't the right words...or words enough...to tell you how frustrated I am for you throughout this entire disastrous experience. You are an amazing woman, Marilyn and you keep proving that time after time. Although our paths will never cross...it's an honor to know you. Your grit is what this country was built on. Oh...how I wish it were more prevalent these days. But you give me hope!

Jodi is not a mean drunk. She takes excellent care of her animals. She drinks beer all day long. It doesn't bother me. Yeah she talks a lot in the evenings but it isn't anything I can't cope with. I am grateful to have a place to stay near my animals. She keeps a spotless house..... works her butt off. I wish she didn't smoke or drink, but I feel like it is none of my business. She doesn't smoke around us.

Y'all don't feel bad for us. We aren't missing any meals, we have a roof over our heads and we are comfortable with Jodi enough to know she doesn't consider us a pain in the butt. She is happy for company. I am the one who can go all day and happily never speak except to a cat, dog or horse.

Everyone has been so incredibly kind to us. We don't want for anything.

Our house is over 100 yrs old. It has been thru a lot. It sat 8 years cut in half on a house mover's lot. It is built out of heart pine. You can hardly drive a nail in it. It will be fine. Many people have it so much worse than us. And as I have said before, we don't have enough sense to be worried. And believe me, worse things have happened to us.

And Mama Pinky is right. I socialize on FB and forums..... That makes up for being somewhat of a recluse in real life.

Marilyn I just wanted to let you know that the FEMA inspector was just here to inspect my damage and since we live in the same general area I hope that FEMA shows up soon for you too.

She was courteous, efficient, took pictures, looked at every room whether it had damage or not. She did not go into any room unless I was there with her. (Ordinarily that would not be a problem, but I had a group of people here at the same time picking up items I donated to them- I am moving to a small apartment and even though I lost a lot in the flood I still had items I could not take, and these parents had a bunch of foster kids and were happy to have the donations.)

So anyway, I hope you are inspected and on your way home soon.
