What type of curtains should I get for this room?
Comments (3)I'm keeping the material on my couch until I replace all furniture, but that won't be till next year. Yes, I want to replace those valances, don't like them anymore. the whole house is sorta country theme...it's placed on 26 acres, those windows overlook the acreage/pond/our horses. It's a living room w/TV. Here are some more pictures...some will be the white walls, we just painted this past weekend. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b173/jennifercox5508/IMG_1000.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b173/jennifercox5508/IMG_1001.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b173/jennifercox5508/IMG_0963.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b173/jennifercox5508/Deer/IMG_0002.jpg...See MoreWhat type of curtains/blinds/shades can I use here, and here and here?
Comments (10)Wow, that was a harsh response. Does it matter who designed/built this house? Keep in mind this is someone's home and by the few pictures shown I'm betting their dream home. mjammjam since window treatments are quite expensive and should be thought out, I'd go to Lowe's/Home Depot and grab the temporary paper shades for the windows where you need the most privacy. It will buy you some time while you figure this out. I think in your dining room you could still use curtains but the rod would have to be centered in that small strip of wall between moldings. You'd want the curtains hug wide to the sides so that when open they just meet the side moldings so your trim shows. I'm assuming you don't want to cover it up. But certainly you could use decorative Roman shades - that would be lovely, too. Your slider is very tricky and I think any type of shade is going to be problematic from a convenience standpoint. What comes to my mind is a curtain (would have to be hung from the ceiling I believe) that draws to the right over the stationary part of the door. When fully open it will still cover some of that glass but I can't see a way to avoid that. Then something simple with a slim profile hung as an inset mount on the side windows - it appears there is room for something like a cellular. Not sure if silhouettes have a slim enough profile. Same with your LR windows. Not sure what the last picture is about. Think this through - if you don't have furniture yet, whatever you choose for your windows will drive what you do there especially if you choose fabric roman shades or curtains with color and pattern....See MoreWhere should I hang curtains?
Comments (6)I would go in between the crown and the ceiling. Because of the size of the crown you may need an extended rod to clear the crown. If you need light blocking you might have to add a blind as well. Keep in mind that unless you are using custom you'll have to work with available lengths. You can add a couple of inches of length if you use curtain rings....See Morewhat diameter curtain rod should I use for 108” curtain panels? I have
Comments (9)Thanks for responding. I have a bay window with three arched leaded glass windows (the two side windows are each 22” wide, the center window is 62” wide). I plan to have a continuous road hung high with only a single panel on each end. The panels (when I finally get them) are hung via grommets. I don’t want the black rod spanning the center window to appear obtrusive against my Wool Skein wall color. Thoughts?...See MoreAnne M
