Need help picking exterior color palette
Comments (6)I like the dark but really how can people live in a place where someone tells you waht to do with your house I live in Canada we have few of these areas and if we do the rules only apply for a finite amount of time not forever . The first thing I would do is get a new door with some glass but I guess everyone else would need to do that too.Such a cool looking house until you get to the cheap out siding on the back...See MoreNumber of colors for exterior palette
Comments (4)I had 4 on my small colonial 2 story - siding (sage green), shutters (dark almost black green), trim (off white) and front door-mailbox-house numbers (dark red). I guess 5 if you counted the roof, but that was a neutral (weathered wood) that didn't really factor into the scheme. I think that worked also because the dark green and off white read as neutrals too. None of the colors were bright. The style of the house definitely determines how many, and what sort of colors will work....See MoreLooking for second opinions on exterior colour palette
Comments (7)Not a pro but it looks busy with the various siding choices. Just basing that on your example. The roof color will also factor in for color. ETA - I wouldn't combine what appears to be stone, brick, shakes...?...See MoreOld House Exterior Color Palette
Comments (12)Too bad about the mortar - should have been matched, but as suggested above not too late to tweak it with stain. The appeal of a craftsman is its super solid appearance - you want the weight of the brick at the base to visually "ground" your house. Craftsman is typically done in earthy colors, and if blue a warmer/darker version. So.... I guess just let it be what it is for now and save for your next paint job + maybe a consultation with oldhouseguy.com For now just a beigier white - still reads as white, just not stark primer white. Tidy up the porch + exterior.....add brick or stone walkway. Get a classier full size, full glass storm door to better show off the entry way. Make your doorway (incl. trim and sidelights) a dark wood color - wood tone being a natural element that ties in with natural brick color as well as your interior. Which btw is spectactular - so glad to hear you will keep the dark wood interior trim! Maple floors will glow after they are finished - hope to see your afters!...See MoreUser
