I have an older home with V-groove wainscoting and board-and-batten paneling, and when I've painted have always painted them the same color as the baseboards and other trim. I think it would be really awkward to try and transition from stained baseboard and door casing to painted paneling.

Maybe someone else can come up with some encouraging inspiration pics.

I'll be honest and say that I looked online for doors and hardware like yours with board and batten OR ship lap, and couldn't find any. If you were able to change the doors to something with panels, and the doorknobs, and add flat wider painted trim around the doors, it would make more of a cohesive look. I personally wouldn't do it.

I was afraid you'd say that. Paining the trim/doors is out of the question right now. And plain painted walls are soooo boring. Do you have any other ideas? I like the thought of being able to put a couple of hooks on the wall.

Wallpaper? Maps of the area? Photos or some prints you like? You can still put hooks on the wall.

I agree it will look strange. New paint maybe and art? Wallpaper.
