My DH had right total hip replacement June 4 and has left THR surgery scheduled December 3. So, I have somewhat of an idea about what you are going through. Right now your job is to let your knee heal. Keeping a positive attitude, a forward thinking mindset and going through with rehab works. Don't be a hero, take the pain meds. Staying on top of the pain will help you get through the first weeks of rehab. Be aware of possible addiction and wean yourself off meds as you get stronger. You are very early in your recovery. We understand that pain as well as not being able to care for your garden is frustrating. For now, keep up with the rehab! It will take time but things will get better! I hope it is not against the rules here to recommend a different forum...(it's specific to total hip and knee replacement) called bonesmart.org. They are very, very supportive and extremely active in their posting by folks who have been there, where you are now. About the weeds: If hiring help is too costly or just not feasible, start by closing the blinds on your garden so you don't get distressed every time you pass by it. Your job right now is to heal and strengthen your knee, not worry over your garden. When you are stronger and more able to, then eradicate the weeds by applying roundup from a garden sprayer. To make the sprayer mobile, attach the (empty) sprayer to a dolly, garden cart, wagon or something similar that is stable. When everything is secure and mobile then it is time to fill the sprayer. Fill the sprayer only 1/2 so it's not too heavy or top heavy to pull around. I hope at least a little bit of this helps you. Look forward to Fall, it is a wonderful time to do things in the garden. Happy Sunday afternoon! How did it get to be 5:00 Sunday so fast??? We had an absolutely beautiful weekend here in NJ and I was outside enjoying it. We had a fast but heavy shower yesterday afternoon then it cleared and was gorgeous again. Zig- a good reason to throw those sneaks out. Glad you got some new ones :-) I still need to get rid of some shoes but that is for another weekend. I know what you mean about the tapes - that is one thing I like about them also. We are not all 20 and skinny. Debi, I like green tea and will have to try and drink more. When I do drink soda I drink caffeine free diet versions but I know many think soda is a no-no. I actually have nothing against water but still struggle with it. It can take me all day to drink one average sized bottle. QOD - did stuff around the house and yard along with the usual laundry. Ordered in last night, no dishes. Tikanas - keeping Joe in my prayers. Did you and your daughter go to the movies? What did you see? Gotta run - time to think about dinner and fold laundry but not necessarily in that order. My WW at work ended this past week. In a way I am glad because the leader was so-so and we did not get all of our booklets and materials. On Tuesday I am going to a meeting 5 minutes drive from my house. When the weather stays nice I can walk to and from my meeting. I understand the leader there is new - the one that was there before was fantastic but I think she burned out. She was running 2 huge back to back meetings there on Tuesdays. I don't know if I mentioned but my sister bought me an early birthday gift a few weeks ago - the WW calculator. She was tired of hearing me complain about journaling and did not want me to drop off track. I love that thing! It is simple to work and costs about $25 at WW meetings. I had a great ending to a stressful week. We had a magic show at school today and it was great. The kids really enjoyed it and about 12 of them got to go on stage and be "stars" for the day. We had all the kids come at once, so I got the afternoon off! TGIF fer sure! I went shopping for something to wear for graduation. Not sure I like what I got, but maybe it has more to do with the fact that I tried on the skirt with black knees highs. LOL I need to see if I can pull the outfit together at home before I decide if I want to keep it. debi - I hope everything went well for you! Post as soon as you can so we can stop worrying. Tikanas - You are right. If you miss more than a few days, it is impossible to catch up and address everyone. Sometimes, that keeps me from posting, cause I don't want to leave anyone out. LOL BJ - I think every one of us has gone through some periods where we have self doubts and bouts of depression. I know I have. A few weeks ago, my DS called and said that since DD wasn't graduating in May, he wasn't sure when he was coming home. Maybe not until Sept. I got off the phone and cried! He's been gone for over a year and it just seemed to hit me that he won't be back! I am slowing coming back to acceptance, but I was in a bad way for a few weeks. But I have to say that more than once, when I have been in a jam, I have said "What would BJ say or do?" Besh - Did you say that you had read Jodi Picoult's new book? I have it on the top of my TBR pile. I have officially filled up my new bookcase, so now I had better read one of my books before I buy a new one! LOL But I can't seem to stay out of the halfprice book store. It calls to me when I drive past. I only have 19 days of school left! This year has flown by! I was keeping track of my food intake on fitday.com and was on track until yesterday. I couldn't get enough to eat for some reason. Then we went out to dinner tonight and I over ate again. Guess I will try to get back on track tomorrow. I would kill for some chocolate right now though! John - Wise and wonderful as usual! My DS has a wonderful wicked sense of humor too. I think he is learning that he has to keep it in check now that he is out in the "real" world. But it is one of the things that I love most about him. miscindy - I love to quilt. I won a Viking sewing machine a few years back but was disappointed to learn it was the most basic of their machines. So I saved some $s and traded up for the quilter's machine and I love it. I have a Christmas quilt that only needs the borders sewn on and it will be ready to quilt. I sewed it all by hand and I want to finish it by hand, so I refuse to use my machine for that. Finishing it is high on my list of things to accomplish this summer. Milkdud - You seem to be on the mend. As Martha would say, "That's a good thing." Hope your trip to the mall was successful. I am so sorry for your loss. We have a 11 year old poodle that has been our "baby", we got him the year we found out we couldn't have kids so he became our world. Five years ago he was diagnosed with diabetes at the time the vet misdiagnosed him and gave him steroids which pushed the diabetes into overdrive so by the time we figured it out he had lost his eye sight. They told us at the time to take him home and make him comfortable. Well me being his "mom" there was no way I was giving up that easily. He's been on insulin for 5 years now and is doing great. But I know the time is going to come sooner than I would like and we will lose our little boy. The thought of that is more than I can bare. I don't know what we will ever do with out him. I made the decision about a two months ago to adopt a little Dorkie, hale doxie, half yorkie. His name is Cooper and he has been such a light in our home. He's even made Buster a little more spry. I knew we would NEVER be able to replace Buster, he's just way to special but I also knew I couldn't live with out a dog in the house. To me having Cooper will make it a little easier when the time comes to tell Buster goodbye. I know in my heart that Buster is loved and has had the best life possible. We have been so blessed to have him in our lives.
