Prairie Fire Crabapple small leaves
Comments (4)I'd figure there is something attacking the roots or it is just a genetically bad tree assuming that tree guard is not collaring it or hiding damage of something that did. Or it was buried too deep. This post was edited by Fascist_Nation on Tue, Jun 17, 14 at 11:33...See Morecrabapple looks terrible, was it the WeedBGone?
Comments (12)her fact scenario seems to indicate that her hubby properly applied the WBG TO THE LAWN ... one replay talks about the tree being sprayed... IF... properly applied.. i do NOT see how it can have any impact... or anyone who ever used the product.. would have nothing but grass .... i used it for years at the old house.. PROPERLY ... and it had no impact on other things near or in the lawn.... i am not aware... that a tree.. as you say ....CAN GROW INTO THE AREA ... most of this type stuff .... and i am guessing here.. is not the type of thing that goes into the soil and builds up.. and stays active.... weed be gone is topical to the weed .... and should not linger in the soil so that a plant CAN GROW INTO THE AREA .... again .... that is gut reaction... please correct me if i am wrong ... now you state you are z4.. if i read that 4 properly .... next to your name .... you did NOT rule out frost freeze after the buds started growing this spring .... and yes.. frost can hit one plant in a garden.. dont ask me to explain how.. it just does ... perhaps you can go to weather underground.. and look at low temps for the last month.. and see where there was one night near 32 to 35 ... and no wind and .... yes again.. the damage may not APPEAR for weeks later ... if it is frost damage .... most likely.. it will take care of itself ... if it was sprayed directly .. it will take care of itself ... you just have to take care of hubby .. lol ... frankly... its a tree .... mulch it properly.. give it a little extra water.. PROPERLY .... and then ignore it.. it will either recover [high odds] .. or it will die... not much you can do about it .. BTWay .... since hubby is weeding the lawn .. i will presume that he is fertilizing the lawn ... and if so... being at least twice as big below ground as above.. it is getting all the fert it needs.. more will NOT be better ... good luck ken...See MoreCan I cut down the spraying period for Rust on Crabapples
Comments (5)Thanks to everyone for their input. I took the advice here to Google "rust on crab apple trees" and came up with good information. I've already sprayed with dormant oil and just waiting for a less windy day to start spraying either Daconil or copper. Here's a link to a website that provided the best information. http://www.greenlivingonline.com/article/protecting-your-apple-tree I found a discussion that advised to make sure the crab apple variety chosen is resistant to rust and fire blight. The variety called 'Robinson' is suppose to be "highly resistant'. The variety I have is 'Profusion' and is rated as 'resistant', but let me tell you, it gets rust. It's such an absolutely beautiful tree I don't want to give it up. It has a beautiful structure; reddish green leaves; reddish brown bark and has strong growth. The flowers are red-pink. Sigh . . . but resistant or not, I still have to spray it. This year I bought an Ortho hose-end spray so I don't have to go back and forth filling and refilling my one gallon sprayer. Never used one of these before . . . hope it makes my job a lot easier!!!!!! Thanks ya-all....See MoreDaily Support, Monday, 11/17/08 to Sunday, 11/23/08
Comments (28)OH....belated Happy B'day Suzanne! I've been 'off board' and will be more or less over the next couple of weeks with my job. Thanks Patti for the addresses. I will be working on my cards soon - yippeeeee! I know not everyone reads on Sunday so I will write all my news on notepad and post it all tomorrow! Keeping myself more than busy these days and starting a few new ventures. Today is rec room clear out/Peggy's craft/sewing center setup. I can't work anymore with my stuff everywhere and this house looks like a football team ran through it with piles of stuff here and there - AGAIN! AAAAauuuuggghhhhh! So getting it all in a designated zone - off the kitchen table area, away from my couch area where I sit and out of the bedroom where I throw stuff I have bought for projects...it should make a huge difference and much easier to clean up around here. Also mentally make me feel a world better. Clutter is depressing. We moved the 2 large dressers waiting for pick up from my Mom's estate to the workshop and I've emailed everyone to let them know since they have not picked them up they are moved outside into the workshop until someone comes and gets them. I also clearly noted that I am not responsible for any water/humidity damage that may occur if they are not picked up. I would not put it past a 'dear' sibling to pull this one over nothing at all given the opportunity. So that is that and the other huge couch-chair was hauled to the charity shop yesterday with another 2 huge bags of stuff. Now I just have to dismantle a dilapidated old pull out couch for the garbage but that will be another weekend. I'm happy with the space at present. So that's me. I'm off to go play in my new space - er - fold up, box up, put away the stuff in there PROPERLY and set up for my projects. Stay tuned, more news tomorrow! Lots of love to all of my pals here - I miss ya when I am not here everyday...not enough hours right now. Peggy...See MoreNHBabs z4b-5a NH
