Comments (8)Thanks to all of you who responded. I love sharing my gardens, but I don't have a lot of local gardening friends. Rita, I grow mystic spires, and love it, but have never grown indigo spires. The hummers visit the mystic spires occasionally, but they absolutely adore the salvia black and blue. Avedon, oh goodness, is it permissable to post butternut squash recipes on the daylily forum? The butternuts make really good 'pumpkin' pie. Also, I have a receipe for roasted winter veggies, which inclues cubes of butternut (in addition to potatoes, rutabaga, parsnip, yams, carrots, and so forth). But my favorite use for butternut is in soup. I have a wonderful recipe for butternut/brussels sprout soup that is to die for. Here is my kitchen counter squash lineup: I just googled 'salvia guaranitica'. Didn't realize that this is the botanical name for 'Black and Blue. And yes, it is the hummers absolute favorite. ngraham, does your salvia black and blue survive the winter? Well, I am off to do some yard cleanup on this glorious October day. Comments (50)Pal, I hear you. The "I need support..." request is a beautiful example of good communication. Makes perfect sense. If only we all could directly ask for what we need and then none of this "biting the hand that could feed us" business would happen. I agree with you that agression, in addition to being unkind, just doesn't make sense, it doesn't get us what we so long for...intimacy with our fellows! Unfortunately there are those who never learned to ask for what they need, or were never "given the permission" to do so, and instead rely on unconstructive modes of expression like "lashing out." Btw, lest it seem I am on a quest to nominate Annie for sainthood, I assure you I am not. I see no saint or villain here. Just humanity in its flawed state unfolding...people hurt, feeling misunderstood and angry. Clear, good communication in person or on the internet is often hard to achieve...very hard. In this case, you set out to do something fun and interesting and that opened a can of worms for someone (quite unintentionally of course!) As far as Annie's follow-up, I guess I just wonder if the moderators hadn't yanked the thread COULD an outcome have resulted that was positive? Could the air have been cleared? Could true communication have resulted? We weren't given much of a chance to find out, were we? I don't like to give up on anybody!...See MoreThis is hopefully going to be a back saver
Comments (12)I have the "Scrubtastic" that you need to charge. Sounds alot like what you bought. At first I was disappointed and wrote a not so nice review to Hemmacher Schlemacher. However, the more I used it the more I appreciated it. One thing tho, maybe not like yours, but I can't press down real hard on the scrubby attachment while cleaning the shower or it stops spinning. Also I have to go over and over the area until it, well, scrubs off the hard water stain - not 100% but MUCH better than my arm can do. And the shower does look whiter afterwards. I use Barkeepers Friend. Oh, and the added reach with its wand really, really helps....See MoreLucille, have to say that you were right
Comments (12)I have the time, as well as the great interest (retired RN), to be very tuned in to all the news & discussions that have been out there about the corona virus. There was a lot of conflicting information, as well as downright lies about Covid-19. So I understand how some people were inclined to be dismissive or minimizing of the real gravity on the horizon. High props to Kath for her post. Too many people are still in denial, or have their heads in the sand. I love this from a post^ ...hadn’t heard it before: "When I'm faced with new facts, I change my mind...what do you do?"...See More- 9 years ago
