I think you have a good idea. I hadn't heard of the app you mention, but I guess a benefit of internet storage is that your photos are offsite. I wouldn't give a privacy concern a second thought, I'm sure such photos would be secure. Plus no one who might have access honestly cares what's inside your house, the app seems to be from a legit insurance company. I'm not sure an app is needed. Take all the photos you want, transfer copies to your PC, and then make another copy to keep elsewhere. Use whatever is most convenient for you. It could be a CD, an SD card, or a small thumb drive. All are cheap. Or even make a few extras. Put one in your safe deposit box, give another to a friend or relative, etc. In case of fire, theft, or other loss cause, you'll have the photos you need to replace your belongings.

Perky and Lapsang, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Chief Architect is the professional version of Home Designer, the program I use. But Chief Architect costs $2,000 or more. I started with the $79 version, Home Designer Interiors. I liked it so much I decided to put down $500 for Home Designer Pro, which has a lot more capabilities but not as many as Chief Architect. I found Home Outside helpful to make a base drawing of our site and make a functional diagram. It was less helpful for me when it came time to making concept drawings and final designs, but I think that points to my limited design skills vs. the limitations of the app. So it won’t design the backyard for you, but it’s a great tool! https://homeoutside.com
