Comments (3)I have an Agastache Ava that I got from High Country Gardens last year and it came back for me this spring. It is a small plant and I was thinking of taking cuttings and rooting them for more plants. Wondering if anyone has tried that or not. I too wonder how it would effect the bloom time and eventual height of the plant....See MoreToo early for agastache
Comments (16)Hey, agastache is a perennial. It's early February. I don't see any problem. Remember, token is in in NC zone 7B, gets warm temps this time of year and early sprouts. For those of us up here in Oh and NJ and Pa- hell, we're going to be buried in snow again tomorrow! Agastache is a hardy perennial and it has been wintersown. Better off than volunteers, the wintersown ones are protected in their jugs. Remember folks, this is wintersowing, not raising seeds indoors under lights. Let Mother Nature do her thing. Your only role is to sow them and make sure sprouts don't fry in spring or die of thirst. Karen...See MoreBest Agastache for bouquets/zone 5/SCENT
Comments (21)Hey, Phyl! I'm in z5, too, tho east of you a ways (southern Saratoga county). I've been growing A. rupestris for 3 years with no winter-kill. I think the trick is to have excellent, and I mean EXCELLENT, drainage. When we bought our house, we discovered the nimrod owners had created a "flower bed" by putting down, I'm not kidding, 6 inches of crushed rock with about a foot of admittedly great topsoil on top. Have you ever tried to dig through 6 solid inches of compacted crushed rock to plant roses??? Oh, my aching shovel! Giving credit where it's due, tho, everything in that bed flourishes. I plant all my xeric plants there and haven't lost one yet. If you really want a good choice of agastaches, you might want to try High Country Gardens. They also have nice penstemons, tho I don't know how they hold up as cut flowers. Here is a link that might be useful: High Country Gardens...See MoreWant: Agastache rupestris
Comments (0)Does anyone have any extra seeds? I'm working hard to grow out a butterfly, hummingbird, and bee yard. This variety came highly recommended. Sorry I don't have my list of seeds posted on the GW. But, if you write me back, I'll try my best to give you the list of current seeds that I do have. Thanks a bunch and I hope you get all that you wanting, too. Xtal...See MoreJXBrown (Sunset 24, N San Diego County)
