LOOKING for: low carb deserts
Comments (7)Here's another low carb recipe site with zillions of recipes. No guarantee, though. I've had good and I've had not so good. Today I tried something called Weresome's Crustless Chocolate Chess Pie. Not so good. An interesting and welcome development in the marketplace is the emergence of low carb products. Comments (19)"his dog treats (which is chicken jerky/dehydrated chicken breasts) are all loaded with sodium" Tammy, I lost two dogs to kidney failure within about a year of each other and I highly suspect the jerky treats I was giving them was a big part of it. I discovered later they were very high in salt. I switched to other pet treats but (and this might sound a bit gross) I always licked them to make sure they didn't taste salty. Well it was just hard to get good quality treats without salt. So I decided to try and make my own, and I bought a food dehydrator. The only thing that goes into my dogs' treats is lean meat, no flavoring, no salt, nothing so I don't need to worry about it anymore. It's actually pretty easy. I get the butcher to slice up meat nice and thin then I cut it into smaller strips and put it into the multilevel dehydrator, switch it on until they are done. I keep a bag in the fridge (not even sure if it's necessary) and put other bags into the freezer to take out when the fridge bag runs out. My dogs love them, no added flavors or salt needed....See MoreCutting back on bread/carb, sweets...
Comments (36)I have watched my carbs intake for years. Mostly because just about all carbs except for rye and whole grain rice and whole grain whole wheat bring on my migraines. I have to run like the Dickens for weight to stay off of me. Diet alone does absolutely nothing for me. It's because of my hypoglycemia. I have been eating a lot in the last few weeks and not really sure what the trigger is but I've also been having more migraines than in years. Not sure what's going on? DH and I have started running and weightlifting regularly again so hopefully I'll keep some of the excess from gathering on my body. I can't eat almonds but cheat sometimes. They are one of my migraine triggers :-(. For some reason eggs has become a trigger too again. Boo hoo. I miss those low-cal tummy fillers....See MoreCanned Chicken? Ideas? Worthy?
Comments (40)I don't dislike canned tuna. I didn't care for canned chicken because it didn't remind me of regular chicken. It also was pink in color, which for me, was off putting . I like poached chicken very much. I don't like it boiled to the extent that it is over cooked though. The canned chicken that I was given may not have been representative of all canned chicken. It originally came from a food bank and was close or past the expiration date, which is why it was given to the rehabbers. She also received a large quantity of canned food, and she gave me several cans of canned pears and fruit cocktail. I used it to go on top of the yogurt i feed to the possums that I feed....to keep the barn cats from eating it. It was a lesser quality than what you might find with Delmonte or Libby and all the canned food was under a different label...like for food that would be distributed to food banks. When I say I have food weirdness....that is just me explaining that I am picky about what I eat. I don't eat very much (almost none) canned food. I don't eat anything cooked very much. Of course I don't like undercooked chicken, but I don't want it cooked to the point it is dried out. Color and texture of food is very important to me...so that is what I mean when I say I am weird about food....See More- 8 years ago
