I gotta say yes, they should be one color. Some people would say that since people frequently match gold and silver jewelry at the same time, what's the difference. But I think the hardware should be consistent--in style (ie, not mixing round doorknobs with egg-shaped doorknobs) and color--because it's a foundational piece of the decorating. Even if it takes a bit of time to be able to afford having everything the same, it's worth it. It is one of the basic investments in your home. Changing out the builder's grade dull brassy doorknobs to brushed aluminum colored was one of the first things I did to my townhouse (and the main level is also one open space). There are some faucets on the upper levels that are brassy, but those will be replaced if I get the financial opportunity to update those bathrooms. (Also, there will be many people who disagree with this, but I think that guests, and later potential homebuyers, will notice the inconsistency and think it just looks wrong to their eye, kind of cheap.)

As with almost everything-it can be done wrong, or can help to create a very natural, cohesive space. I find that it's easier to mix metals when finishes are repeated somewhere..not neccessarily in a very literal way, but they correlate with colors of other elements in the room. Maybe your countertop or your floors, or something else has this darker, warmer character that will support your choice of a different metal for your chandelier. I know I have 5 finishes in my master bath-and I don't think people even notice it..only I know how anxious I was. and how courageous.:) Because each one of them is subtly repeated in something..wood of the vanity..veins in the marble..etc. On the other hand in our kitchen I went with very similar finishes-because it's small ( Think it's smaller than our master bath. lol.) and pretty monochromatic. That's my very general answer. Pictures would help, if you'd like more specific advice.

Very pretty!! Love the material. I’d match the light to the rod if I could. As close to. Linear is fine but there is a lot of sharp lines and squares in there that round works too. So just look around for a light that you love regardless of it’s shape!!
