Can two quarts of two paint colors be mixed if both in Pearl?
Comments (2)zobeet, Thank you for your reply to my post. The painter agrees with you that I should have a color that I can replicate to do touch ups. The painter is right now priming the walls and painting all the shelving, door, ceiling and trim white. Then he will put the color on the wall and he told me to be ready. He told me just what you said that I should not mix the cans since then if I need to touch up, I will not have the same color. Maybe I will just paint the room BM Bone White then since I have Pearl Finish left and flat white on the ceiling? He told me I do not need a special paint for the laundry room like I needed in the bathrooms. I hope he is right. For my other two rooms, I can choose a new color and experiment. I guess I will forget about the idea of mixing the quarts. I really did like the deserted island color but it is very close to the Bone White Color so I might as well use up what I have (since I have a lot left over) since the colors are so close. If I had time, I would try some more samples out but I am busy so hopefully a bright red or orange rug in there and a picture will add some color as well as the contrast of the white trim and the light tan walls (Bone White is a darker than BM Navajo White and is a tad darker than Sherwin Williams Navajo White and is the color of the BM Natural Wicker paint but with a touch of red in it I feel base on my sampling and seeing the pretty color in the hallways, family room and kitchen). I just feel bad I am not trying a new color out but I did not like the lavender on the walls in the laundry room as seen from my bedroom despite loving lavender and purple. Maybe one of my other rooms will look nice in that pretty color. I want a new color for my spare guest/exercise room and to be brave since that room is not near the other rooms....See MoreLiving Room Paint Color - should I change it?
Comments (8)IMO adding a little color could be nice since you have so many neutrals already. Maybe a greenish greige, like RH Silver Sage, BM Camouflage, BM Baby Turtle or Ace Hazy Day for just a hint of color. Or find either an area rug or fabric to slip cover the orange chair and pull a color from one of those....See MoreDoes this paint color work for you? Or should I change it?
Comments (32)OP here. Just to clarify, yes, at the moment all that I can change is the colour of the bottom panel. However, all opinions are valuable, and you know, eventually the roof will have to be redone... ;) The front of the house is the only part that has been painted with the Slate colour, but the back of the house has been painted with the Driftwood, the trim paint, and the soffiting paint, and the scaffolding has been returned. Pic: Having watched my husband stand on a ladder on top of the scaffolding and practically hang out over the edge to paint the top, we're so not doing that again. :) We are limited in colours due to the formulation of this paint. I would have loved something more greeny, but didn't like the few greens they had. On the other hand, this does seem to read as green in different lights (our neighbors thought it was green). I quite like the driftood colour, and in real life, it goes nicely with the brick. Oddly enough, I had suggested painting one board where the stucco hardi panel and cedar join up, and DH had rejected that idea - will be looking at it again, though. DH is thinking of various options for the posts, some of which can be painted and some can't, so no decisions there as yet. Heck, we haven't even got the bobcat in yet to re-level the front of the house and then build a new walkway... The hardi-panel can be found here: http://www.jameshardie.com/builder/products_siding_hardiepanelSiding.py It's limited to 4x8, 4x9, or 4x10 sheets, so the plan is to have that 4 foot tall strip at the bottom, due to not being able to get all the cedar siding cleanly off the house. Think DH also wanted to use this for some manly reason of his own. Again, thanks to all for comments and work! Sarah Here is a link that might be useful: Paint colours...See Morewrong stain color! Comments (3)Hubby would kill me if I wanted to sand it all off and start over--it's an 8' shelf w/ crown molding and needs to be on the wall by tomorrow night (not to mention 2 smaller, matching shelves). So.... I found some "dark cherry" stain in the garage from a long-ago project and applied to a sample board on top of the "red oak" (aka walnut color) and it darkened it and with a slight red tinge (okay, so at least there's some red). I read up on Bartley's just now but don't know where I could find it locally, but I'd like to try it. What about another brand of gel stain--Minwax maybe? However, I've quickly learned (after using it, though) that Minwax isn't a preferred brand of stain. Anyway, thanks for the ideas. Tracey...See Moregsciencechick
