Comments (3)I am not crazy about tile. It's hard on the feet and legs. I also don't like cleaning the grout although you can make the grout line very small and dark so that would make it easier to clean. I do love wood. I just think it feels nice underfoot, and I think it gives a warmer overall look. Wood is pretty easy to keep clean. I just use a damp dry mop on mine. My dogs are big and have scratched my wood floors, but it doesn't bother me. One day I will have them resanded and stained....See MorePaint color advice on kitchen reno that will create open floor plan??
Comments (2)The blue and green and brown are going...once 2 walls separating kitchen are gone it will all be open. It's gonna be a large space and new color will have to go down hallway too. Not sure what will look best with the carpet, trim and kitchen cabs. Go all one color? Go a darker hue of same color around cabinets/foyer? Do an accent wall? Keep it simple and just paint same color for everything?...See MoreI have an open floor plan. can I mix wood in LR and tile in kitchen?
Comments (5)basically have new tile where you have this tile, and wood flooring where you have the cork? yes you can. But it would be more cohesive to wood throughout. Or, do the entry way w/the tile, and blend it w/the hardwood. or, can you section off just the kitchen and do the tile there? coming in from the entry way w/the wood, you could blend it w/the tiles in the kitchen. similar to this (that cork actually looks nice! w/the right furniture and accessories, and adjoining tile, it would look a lot better...See MoreSplitting flooring type wood/tile in open concept plans? Comments (11)French limestone in kitchen and wood in family room. Here they did an inlay with wood for sitting area and tile for the doors, around fireplace and kitchen. Do most people prefer one floor type? Sure, but there are exceptions and times when it makes sense for someone to do different floors. I am building and have a long back hallway that was supposed to be wood to match the rest of the house ... but this area will get lots of traffic and will be the area my 3 dogs stay in when we are out. I decided to switch to tile and it will work best for the way we will use the house. Some future mythical buyer can go ahead and rip it out at a later date!...See Moreahiastate
