Painted Rock!

Another painted rock has been found. Today I rode along with my youngest daughter to another town to get a few groceries. We decided on getting some food from Rally's. There on top of the speaker sat a painted rock. My daughter had not heard of them and asked me, what is that! I told her and she said well am I supposed to take it and I told her yes. So she took it and will do whatever you are to do with them. It was not the prettiest rock. It was painted black with squiggles of sparkly, gold, blue and red I think all over it. I know Alyssa will love it and I think maybe some little Daisy Scouts may end up painting some as a project! Has anyone else found any lately?

My sister works at a small assisted living place. She came into a ladies room yesterday and someone had brought her a basket of unpainted rocks and one painted rock. We thought that was a nice idea.

I've only recently heard of this and think it's a nice idea. Yes, what a great project for little girl scouts!

I've not seen any yet around here, but I know people in my area are doing the painted rocks. Fun project for all ages.

I recently retired. My sister and BIL have a campsite beside a river. This summer I visited often. I picked up some river rocks and took them home with me. My SIL asked me to try to paint her cat. Craftygardener your rocks are really cute. You have a nice site, I'll have to go back to see what else you have made. Want to invite you and Desiderta to come over to the painting forum and post pics of your rocks on the gallery there. If you haven't been by there before, you might enjoy seeing some of the pics. I haven't really done any painting on rocks yet, but I did stencil a couple, and am wanting to make some rock "flowers" that I saw in a Mary Englebreight book. I collected some stones, but they are smaller than I really wanted and I think smoother ones would work better--just too cheap to go buy rocks--so I'm gonna keep looking for some I can pick up for free. ;o) Luvs

Ya know.........I purchased a house two years ago and there was a rock painted like a lady bug in the front flower bed. I left it there for good luck. I haven't found one since. But I did find a dime and two pennies on my run today. :0)

I looked it up:

The premise is simple: Gather a few supplies (flat, paintable rocks, acrylic paint, sealer, paint brushes), decorate your rock — getting as creative as you like — and seal it. Write instructions on the bottom of the rock that tell the finder which Facebook group to post a photo to once it's found. Then, hide. You can also post a photo of the rock on the page after it's hidden, giving clues as to location. Popular hiding spots include waterfront parks, playgrounds and family-friendly hiking trails.

Some people will only choose to create and hide, while others will participate in it all; painting, hiding, and finding. If you find a rock, you can either re-hide it or keep it. Lots of people choose to keep their first rock and then re-hide the rest.

I was standing by the post office watching the parade at my hometown and happened to look down by the door and there was a painted rock! The first one I had ever seen. I left it for the next person as there were a lot of kids around but it made me smile.
