Modern Fireplace Deisgn (3-sided, gas) - Pls Critique

We decided to re-build the fireplace and create a modern, sleek, 3-sided gas burning fireplace.... I'm leaning towards using the Spark Linear Burner System (48" long).

The design is going to be very simple... Just putting this out there to see if anyone care to give some input! Many thanks in advance! (BTW this is going to act as a room divider between the Living Room and Family Room).

Some questions and concerns:

1). A major concern of mine is if the steel cage provides enough support for the cantilever....

2). Safety precautions -- the fireplace structure will be steel with cement boards covering it up, then finished with Venetian Plaster -- are cement boards and Venetian Plaster materials safe for a fireplace application?

3). The hole where we'd drop in the burner unit -- does this need to be made of metal or something non-combustible?

4). How do we ensure proper venting? Is a "fan" necessary to suck the fumes up the flue?

Sorry, very basic questions, I know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
