Is this a native sedge?

Mary Beiter

I found this in a wooded area on my property in Western New York. It appears to be a sedge, but what kind? I want to make sure it's a native.

There are a staggering number of different sedge species. A species ID for Carex is sometimes only possible, by looking at the flower/seedheads.

Carex has over 2,000 species, and Cyperus has over 700 species.
