Comments (3)I would just do solar shades , IMO it will look like porch no matter what window coverings you use since you can see the front door anyway. Why is it important that it not look like what it is?...See MoreAdding a front porch with a metal roof
Comments (6)I assume you want a front porch so that you're a little more sheltered from the elements while coming in and out of the front door? I don't think that's possible, unless you're willing to shrink or eliminate the upper-floor windows on the adjacent wall with the siding. Even if you were only hoping for a 5-6 ft deep porch, it's going to conflict with those windows....See MoreAdding front porch & garage. help!
Comments (8)Yes that’s exactly what I was thinking!! But we were hoping to turn the existing garage into the new master bed & bath. And possibly adding a covered carport to the left or possibly even building a new garage to the left of the driveway (about midway up so you’ll pull into the driveway and turn left into garage) and building back from there onto the house for more sq footage. That would make the house more of like an L shape if that makes sense. But I love your idea, honestly I love how the possibilities are endless! It’s a fairly small house so I’ve been trying to figure out how we can reconfigure things to make more space. Here’s some photos of the current layout & some of the ideas I’ve had for changing it up. You’ll have to forgive me, I’m kind of a rookie! Lol...See MoreTurning an enclosed front porch in to living space
Comments (2)Enclosed porches are usually not insulated very well, so that's something to consider. Powder rooms -- you don't spent too much time in so maybe it doesn't matter as much. But for an office? Personally I get cold when sitting still at my desk and would definitely want it as insulated as possible. If you're not planning on opening up the walls during renovation, insulation can be blown in. The upside is all those windows will make for a really nice office space. Nice and bright, and gives you something to gaze at when taking a break from staring at the screen....See MoreJake Smith
