Jasmine Sambac 'Maid of Orlean'?
Comments (40)Hi Leah! You're welcome! I'm using the 5:1:1 mix for my single tuberose that I'm growing in a pot. The leaves don't look that dark green so Kemistry might be right that tuberoses might not like pine bark so much but who knows? My other single tuberoses I'm growing in the ground though the dog tends to trample them when she's chasing after squirrels. :( And yes, I suggest putting your Jasminum molle into a smaller pot and only watering when the soil starts to dry (again a moisture meter is a godsend, takes the guessing out of it). But you can also just look at your leaves as to when the plant needs water. Oh, and of course tilt your pots after watering! ;) Tiaree, I hope you find a MOO! If not you can always order a plant online. :) You might also like 'Belle of India' or 'Mysore Mulli' or 'Grand Duke'. If you do find another jasmine a fun thing to do is pick the fat un-opened flower buds right before they open and float them in a dish of water. The flowers will open up inside and the scent is truly amazing! :) -Robert...See MoreMy Flore Plena Jasmine Has Yellow Leaves

Comments (1)Hi, Shadara. I'm not an expert, but I have an elderly nose that doesn't pick up every scent. So if I can detect a strong fragrance, I think nearly anyone would. Here are some that I have found to be nicely fragrant, purchased just this year. I believe these are all "classic" jasmines, grown all over the Middle East. Jasmine Jui from TT, viny bush, small flower, very fragrant. Vigorous. J. sambac, I have Flore Plena and Belle of India from Logee's, very fragant. Flore Plena looks like tiny rosebuds, Belle has longer, curly petals. Both very fragrant. These two are doubles. Maid of Orleans is a single, very floriferous, very fragrant, very robust. Bloom when small. J. sambac Grand Duke of Tuscany from Almost Eden. Large very double flower, very fragrant. J. grandiflorum (double) from Logee's. Viny, smaller leaves. Very fragrant. Flowers pink on the outside. Blooms when small. Why not tell your friend you are thinking of getting one for yourself (or your mother), show her some pictures, and ask her which one she thinks you or your mother would like? My Dr is Lebanese, and she loves the Grand Duke, which her parents grew in Lebanon....See MoreJasmine sambac 'Mysore Mulli'
Comments (6)I have been very fortunate to have found this forum. Many friends have helped me with issues of overwintering. It is difficult and I do lose a few plants over the winter. My Maid of Orleans jasmine blooms well .Other jasmines only bloom sporadically. I think they need more sunshine. I use osmocote & miracle gro for fertilizer . Previously I used to fret whenever I lost a plant, but now I am at peace. I can do only so much! In early October ,they will take up residence inside my home despite the pleas of my family members. I move them often to receive sunshine and have to be very careful with watering. These past few years, I find growing Tuberoses very rewarding. I have 5 big pots of them. They are so easy to care and overwintering is a breeze. Have you tried it? However my first love is Hibiscus. Here is a link to my hibiscus plants....See MoreFalguni Patel
