How I Water Plants I Cant Water

I rarely get to go out and buy repotting supplies for my succulents. And when I do, there's a limit to what I can buy. Then I will run out of soil, perlite, or anything else I need to repot my cacti and succulents.

But I don't want to water the ones in peaty soil. You know, the soil they came in.

Do you see how when some succulents are thirsty, they shoot out "aerial roots"?

those roots above the soil.

Now since I don't want to water them in that soil since there's a risk of rot, I like to do this.

Disclaimer: im not sure if this is too great for the plants. But you know what, they're thirsty. And whatever they can get until I can repot them is at least a little nice, right? I would much rather give them a nice, long, full soaking. But you gotta do what you gotta do.

I take a little dish. I put water in it and put the aerial roots in the water. I try to get every root I can reach.

they look a little plumper after I put them in the water.

And I just leave the roots in that water for maybe forty seconds tops,

And even better, if theres roots coming out of the drainage holes...

I like to take a cotton swab/pad and dunk it in some water and just leave it on those roots for a bit.
please share your ideas and opinions on this:)
