Here is a testimonial to the Sun Oxy bucket stuff. You can also purchase it at Dollar General stores. I went to a yard sale and there was a huge bag of white t shirts that would fit my grandsons, FREE. BAG OF RAGS. I brought them home. In a 5 gallon bucket I put in a scoop of the Sun Oxy powder, and the hottest water my tap would give me. Dissolved it and put in a wad of t shirts. I have a basement, and no one but me goes down there. So I had the bucket down there. Every time I went down I checked on the shirts. Some came clean overnight and I took them out and swished the others in the bucket of now cold water they were in. I actually ended up leaving a few for about a week. (since I forgot about them) Needless to say, I am sold on Sun Oxy for old yellow stains on whites. I gave my grandsons piles of t shirts that looked like new. In the future, I suggest a washing technique I read here years ago. A woman stated her mom always washed whites twice. Once in cold water, once in hot. The cold water gets out any stains that need the cold treatment of washing, and the hot took out any others. I tried it and have never went back. With a traditional washer and now with an HE. My whites have never been whiter and brighter. So soak in the oxy, do a wash cycle in cold, one in hot, and you will need sunglasses to fold them. :) NOTE: for safety sake, if you have small kids or pets, don't leave a bucket of oxy water around for them to drink, fall in, etc!!!!

Sorry, Talley Sue, I just checked back and saw you asked a question. The ironing board cover has a foil reflective lining underneath that reflects heat back into the corning cover so it's supposed to iron from underneath also, at least that's supposed to be how it works. My friend whobought a small cover for her smaller built in board doesn't like the cover because she claims clothes slide off too easily. I don't seem to have that problem, however. Also, I used to keep my ironing board inside a utility closet (hot water heater/furnace room) but decided to keep the board up at the end of the hall between bedrooms. When company comes is when I fold it up and put it away. My laundry room's walk space is a doorway between garage and kitchen and I just didn't have anyplace to build one in that could be folded up. Works for me but then I try not to be too self-critical about ironing boards, it's just part of life for me. Aren't I fun?

I'm with you, Kathsgardn. When we were at the Grand Canyon this spring we bought tee shirts that I had put away and forgotten--I have to wear sleeveless, cooler shirts in the summer because I feel the heat more intensely than most. As it cooled down yesterday I pulled it out and was pleased to notice it was a nice weight. And I remember being quite pleased with the price too--quite a bit less than I expected to pay! Yes, these thin, ridiculous shirts have been foisted upon us by greedy manufacturers who call it "style." I would be willing to pay more for a heavier shirt, but they don't seem to exist.

Stopped into a Marshall's on my way to the library today. I hadn't even know it was there. Went through EVERYTHING because I didn't want to miss something. My conclusions: everything commonly available in cotton is either white or blue. Wait! There's a third color! White with blue stripes. I don't normally wear either color. This has been true in every store I've visited, not just Marshall's. I did end up buying a white linen shirt with embroidery at the neckline. It was only $10 on clearance (slightly damaged, but I can fix it easily) . I will wear it a few times and see if I can stand to wear a color that will be filthy by the end of the first day. I can always tea dye it. Probably will. Marshalls had, it seemed, almost everything on clearance. Must be between seasons. But henceforth I will think of that store as the Home of Rayon. I'm sure I would not have noticed that before, if I hadn't been ferreting inside every shirt for the fiber content tag. Wait Wait! I did buy some all-cotton shorty pajamas. They are blue and white. Striped. But I don't have to choose jewelry to match them, and I won't worry about them making my skin look green while I am sleeping. Then I stopped off at a Talbots (which I also didn't know was there) and bought the shirt Lucy mentioned above. The cut is very flattering, with a yoke front and back. The nicest cut of anything I've found so far. Tassel-Tie Chambray Popover Shirt Which is blue. With white embroidery. I asked them to help me find anything else in a sleeveless natural fiber. I was the only one in there, so the 2 staff ladies quite got into the challenge. I tried on the 4 other items, 3 of which were blue, white, or blue and white. The remaining shirt was white with orange embroidery. Sigh. I didn't buy anything else. So far I have not bought anything in any other color. But the Nordstrom order arrives tomorrow.
