Hi amw, JMHO but you didn't mention if the female hose end had a rubber washer in it before connecting to the faucet. If a plumber did the work, I suspect it did. He wouldn't miss that. Hoses are not generally designed to hold constant pressure. There are high quality hoses that do a better job of it but it is not their intended use. Your best bet is to have the plumber hard tap a pvc line with a new faucet location where you want it. The turn it off at the faucet each time you are through using your hose. You could install a more expensive quick coupling system that landscaper use to manually water plants. You just insert the adapter hose fitting into the receiver part twist and you have your water hose energized with water then you can use your nozzle. Hope this helped?

Those "typical" valves are almost 100% junk -- contractor el-cheapos that get them by the warranty period. (Interestingly, I've seen most homeowners continue to replace in-kind -- probably because they don't know better.) When time comes that ANY of them require attention, I long ago began replacing them en-toto with 1/4-turn ball-valves. They cost a little more but in 30 years of replacing the old cheap ones with the 1/4-turn balls I have yet to have one leak or fail to operate. Such replacement is a pain in the tail, but does solve the problem permanently. Don't even get me started on the gate-valves typically used for the main supply.

I have the same issue with the high arc faucet I installed yesterday. My previous high arc faucet Price Pfister), did not have this issue. At first I thought it was the aerator letting air in which I figured would allow water to drip out. I replaced the aerator of the new faucet with the old Price-Pfister aerator, with no luck. I did notice the Price-Pfister faucet high-arc spout is about 2½-3 inches shorter than the spout of the new faucet. I'm not a plumber, but my guess is, the taller spout is holding more water than the old spout. I'm thinking the aerator can't hold the extra water, due the the slight increased water pressure in the goose neck. Once the water drips out, typically 30-40 drips, the dripping stops. Just a guess, however. I had pretty much the same results when I shut off the water with the aerator removed. Anyhow, I'm not going to worry about it.
