Check the scheff for scale and mites. If none found, my guess is the tree looks like it's suffering from a high level of soluble salts in the soil. I would move the plant to where you can flush the soil repeatedly - up to 10x with at least the volume of water the container holds. Saturate the soil and wait about 10 minutes before you start the flushing. After you're done flushing, unpot the plant & set it on newspaper to dry down a little - maybe over night, if your soil is extremely water retentive. Fertilize with a 1/2 strength dose of any fertilizer that has an NPK ratio of 3:1:2. Examples are 24-8-16, 12-4-8, 9-3-6. Foliage-Pro 9-3-6 is an excellent choice of fertilizer for your houseplants. Unfortunately, it wouldn;t be a good thing to prune your plant now. With most of the foliage at branch tips, you would be seriously hampering your plant's ability to make food. A reasonable course would be to get the plant outdoors as soon as temps allow in spring so it can gain some energy. In late June, cut it back and repot into a quality soil that is durable and drains freely. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the results if you'll be that patient. ;o) Al

Graham is better own-root in So Cal. Grafted on Dr. Huey he gets really large and doesn't bloom that much. Own-root he's a nice-rounded shrub with regular repeat. You are in zone 24, close to the ocean? Eden will likely never open for you. Also a rust magnet. Beautiful beautiful flower when it is good, but many drawbacks. Colette is very nice, might open better for you, and less Rust. I'd go with Darcy or Jude. Mary Rose is a mildewer par excellence, and there are many other pink Austins with faster repeat for So Cal.

Okay, as far as your cholesterol meds go, just tell your doctor you need to switch to Crestor, so you can enjoy grapefruit (and pummelos) again. That is so dumb. I wish doctors would pay better attention to this (I am an RN, Crestor, rosuvastatin, does not interact with furanocouramins). Citrus, and especially grapefruits and pummelos are part of a healthy diet. If you like them, you should be able to eat them. No problem at all eating grapefruits or pummelos if you're on Crestor, that will fix that issue. Jean, I had a Valencia orange in my back yard in Huntington Beach, and it was delicious, so it should do just fine for ptr in Manhattan Beach, especially if she's a bit away from the coast. Huntington Beach is cooler and foggier than Manhattan. Navel oranges may not get enough heat units, but you shouldn't have any issues with a Valencia. As far as mandarins, I would suggest Seedless Kishu. Pixie is also wonderful. Another good option is Clemenules (Nules) mandarin. All really excellent, rich, very sweet, easy to peel, super delicious. Lemons - the best true lemon out there would be a Santa Teresa Feminnello, which can be found at Four Winds Citrus. Pink Lemonade is pretty to look at, but the fruit is pretty worthless. Dry, pithy, not juicy. Pretty tree, poor fruit. A prettier tree is the Improved Meyer lemon, but it is a hybrid, and if you're looking for a true lemon, then this may not be to your liking. I would suggest tasting a Meyer lemon before you buy a tree. I love them, no all lemon lovers do. And, if you change your statin, you can consider a Cocktail pummelo hybrid. All the sweetness of an orange, but tastes like a grapefruit. And, doesn't need heat units to sweeten, like most grapefruits do. Just love them. ptr, are you originally from South Africa by chance? Mango K - Manila is the ONLY mango Lowes/HD offers at their stores here in So Cal, so there's no chance for a mislabeling unless it happened at LaVerne's before it was shipped, cuz you can special order other varietals from them (but through Lowes), which I did (I think a Glenn and something else) but they were just crappy sticks so I got my money back.....but yeah anything's possible - I suppose I could look at the other varieties LaVerne offers (like 7-8 others) and go to the PIN viewer and see maybe if one of those mangos comes up looking close to mine.....hmmmm..... Oh...and thanks Harry for the steady faith in the Edwards Mango, which I just spent $160 on to get a big tree and plant.
