If Menards is your local box store, consider using Thorcraft Custom Kitchens instead. They were our cabinetmakers for our recent kitchen renovation (there's a thread on this forum with pictures -- search "eclectic MCM" to find it) We love the results. Excellent quality at a very reasonable price. They specialize in all styles, from ultra modern to cozy country. And their kitchen designers will help you maximize your space free of charge. We have completely rebuilt 3 kitchens in the past 8 years in 3 different houses. I designed the layout and then took my design to both HD and Lowes. Each time, they were very comparable in their pricing for Kraftmaid cabinets. But each time, Lowes allowed me to open a line of credit for an additional 10% off on top of their current promotion. So, we went with Lowes. We have found Kraftmaid to be an excellent cabinet for our budget. And at the first house we bought them for, they are still looking great. They are full overlays with soft close drawers and doors. We got pull-outs in the island and some of the lower cabinets. The most recent house we did a microwave cabinet. All lower corner cabinets have had the lazy susan. One house had a pantry cabinet. At each kitchen, we purchased the cabinets for between $6,000-$7,000, including promotions and discounts. Current kitchen is 15 x 12 with a large island, walk-in pantry and plenty of extras, cabinet cost was $6,800, then appliances and counter top. We also do all our own install. I highly recommend Kraftmaid. Solid build, good hardware for drawers. For our budget, they are our choice. The designers at Home Depot and Lowes were great to work with and spent hours on my designs with suggestions when needed. I really liked the white look but without custom building them, the thermafoil didn't look like it would hold up. Same for IKEA. Our first 2 houses we went with hickory and they were beautiful. We had Cardell (from the company's "good" years) in our previous home and they were not a quality cabinet at all (we had no choice on that one). I believe the factory is the same (if it's in the San Antonio, Texas area) for the new company, so I don't expect them to be any different

My daughters kitchen is about ten years old and it looks great, she has Candlelight Cabinets. When I did my kitchen remodel two years ago I went to a distributor that sold them. The kitchen designer was excellent and every vendor that worked on my kitchen commented on how nice the cabinets are. My contractor said it was the first time he had every cabinet come out of the box fully square and the paint finish was perfect. Two years later, they look the same as when they were installed, I highly recommend them.
