Comments (2)You may have confused the C:N ratio with a brown:green ratio. You do want about 25:1 C:N in your pile, but that doesn't translate to the same brown:green ratio. The wood shavings are a super brown, something like 400:1. I suggest you observe and adjust. You can probably add some of those leaves since the temp is cooking along nicely. But it may be just fine without any. If it starts smelling bad, it needs more browns. If it gets much hotter than 150, it would probably benefit from some browns (some say that too high a temp reduces the quality of the product). So dig into it, check the moisture, odor and temp, and go from there. You have a great pile going!...See MoreRainy Days and Monday's Blooms
Comments (12)Mantis - The Shores of Time seedling is only a one year old so there's not much to evaluate yet. It is definitely more vigorous than its lookalike sister. The sib is still one fan, and the one pictured above split into three fans after blooming. I'm hoping that one will continue to improve because it has such fabulous color. Of my Davissons, only Miss Goldie Gold Digger and a toothy seedling are planted in the ground. The drawback with Miss Goldie is the gigantic blooms that weigh the scapes down too much when it rains. It has 16-21 buds per scape here and some instant rebloom coming. No Boys Allowed multiplies well, but consistently has low bud count for me. Michael Davisson has a wimpy plant habit but gorgeous blooms. It had more buds than No Boys Allowed, but not as many as Carolina Cool Down. Miss Demeanor is a vigorous multiplier with big fans. Only 8-9 buds grown in a pot. Reckless Girls impressed me with it's good growth and immediate multiplying. The purple blooms were very sunfast. Another well-budded Davisson is a seedling I got from her, which is a cross between Jerry Nettles and No Boys Allowed. It had 16-18 buds this season. It multiplies well and has nice foliage. It does not grow as tall here as it does for Judy. Davisson Seedling Jerry Nettles X No Boys Allowed This post was edited by shive on Tue, Jul 23, 13 at 19:01...See MoreMonday blooms on a rainy day

Comments (9)To Answer Mr_HAVAC's question Problem: The A/C quits cooling when the temps reach approx 90 degrees. The fan keeps blowing air, but it is warm air. I have been without A/C for a year except for a room A/C. Right now it is 105 and it was up like 116 last summer. Repair History: May 2006 - Condenser fan replaced because it had been installed backwards. July 2006 - Relay Switch Replaced Sept 2006 - Condenser Replaced No more 90+ days occurred because it was Fall May 2007 - Relay Switch Replaced Again June 2007 - Assessment is compressor override kicked in at 90 degrees - need to replace unit. I have a 1350sqft 1 story home - I bought it before I lost my husband, I'm trying to keep it. I'd like it to be cool enough to live in (sigh) ------------------ As to the issue of 2x4 etc. I have been on the phone all day with: State Licensing Board State Insurance Commission County Blding Dept Warranty Company Besides reading docs and laws on the web. County said don't worry about the license, just get owner/builder permit. State says illegal to get owner/builder permit plus I would be libel for workmans comp, insurance claims etc. If anything goes wrong. I could indeed lose everything. I will not go owner/build permit. State Insurance Commission is sending me a complaint form in the mail. When I pointed out the isssue to the warranty co. they said they'd known for a week and dropped the A/C Co but since they were already working my issue they didn't catch it. A/C Company says they now have the insurance straightened out. Warranty Company says too bad. We must now start over with a new company and see what their assessment is. . . . So now I wait for the other Company to call me some time next week. And just how do I know who to trust and what is a fair price for the work etc. Thanks to eveyone who is trying to help....See Moretarheelgirl_7b
