Monday blooms on a rainy day

I did get some pics this morning since the rain stopped for now but more is coming.

UP MILL CREEK - still blooming and as you can more buds to go. Large blooms. Wonderful garden plant. Sorry the pic is slightly out of focus.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD - rain didn't seem to bother it. More buds to open.

CAPACITY FOR WONDER - A surprise scape came up. Not as tall as the others that bloomed but heck, I won't complain.

LESLIE RENEE - seems like it hasn't stopped blooming. Registered as an early but seems to bloom later here. I don't get the wide ruffling like the hybridizer photo but still a nice bloom.

INDY SNOWFALL - has a touch of cream to it today.

CANTER - still going. If your looking for a tall, ruffled yellow, this one fits the bill. I would put it with my favorite yellows along with CONCRETE BLONDE.

ORCHID CORSAGE - looks to be winding down but the color this morning was very vibrant. Must be all the rain we are getting.

MEMORABLE KISS - is now in question. It has been blooming for the past 2 weeks and the bloom does not look anything like the hybridizers photo. I sent pics to the hybridizer for her input. No responses yet but I highly doubt this is MK which I ordered from her. Blooms late, tall scapes.

LAURA NYRO X VICTORIAN LACE - more pink today and a bit of a twist to the petal.

The pix are good, regardless of the weather. I wonder if you are in the flooding zone, haven't checked that out on the Weather Channel. Hope you are not having serious problems. Lots of pretties and today I think that Canter and Orchid Corsage are my favorites. Avedon

Great pictures between the rain spells. Looks like the flowers weren't damaged at all from all this rain.

I am drawn to all the yellows today including your canna. I have never grown a yellow flowered canna myself.

CAPACITY FOR WONDER and CANTER tie for favorite for me.

Nancy, looks to be a Compact, which develop very nice color. I have absolutely no idea if this one is actually a compact or not, Josh. But considering that it is in a small bonsai pot, and that I don't fertilize much if at all, and the fact that I pretty much leave it to fend for itself over the summer ... it really isn't too surprising that growth is fairly minimal for me.

Guess what!! John! I had not been paying attention to my brugmansia plant( I almost forgot them) and then when I see your pictures... I go out in the rain and dark to see... I think I have the same flowers!!!! on mine!!! Three huge foot long yellow flowers..They are yet to turn a deeper peachy color. Oh My!!! how could I have missed them! My plants are not as big as yours though! this is the first year. I planted them in spring ( May) Tomorrow morning I will take pictures and smell them too. Japanese honey suckle and Jasmine.. Both are wonderful fragrances in my diary!! I am so happy know and will probably dream of them the entire night!!!

Your two Belle's seedling is still looking good. Great form as well as a nice color.....Martha Chamberlain is another looker. Nice ruffling for growing in such a coolish climate. Heavenly Orange Blaze's color is at it's best in a cooler climate too. A real stand out in your garden picture...........Maryl

Thanks Debra. I don't know how much longer that winding pathway will be there if those clumps keep spreading! Time to divide, I think. Nancy, I know yours will be starting to pop soon. Mantis, I have Omomuki and while these are very similar, there are some differences. Same with Imperial Lemon which I thought might be this one but I also have IL, so it is easy to compare. I bought this noid from a daylily garden in Nashville over 20 years ago and somewhere in my gardening notes, I know I must have kept the names of those I bought. Just haven't found it yet. Celeste, I am so sorry you may be looking at another dry summer. At least you got PLENTY of snow to help with your ground water depth perhaps. Hopefully, rain will make it to you before your buds begin! Yours are always lovely, no matter the weather. Kate

We are not in any flood zone thank goodness, here in Upstate NY. I feel really sorry for the NJ folks as they have gotten alot of rain this year and now, it seems they are getting it again. I still have family living there and check in with them to see how things are going.

I love the variety of colors cannas come in. Just like daylilies LOL.

Those are lovely pics. I'm glad the rain is not causing you any major problems. That may not bee Memorable Kiss, but the bloom is very pretty. It is very annoying to not get what you have ordered, however.

Cantor is another beautiful yellow.

Leslie Renee is so beautiful, it's great that it is still blooming. And all the daylilies look very good after the rain. I love your seedling too.

Orchid Corsage is indeed vibrant, and Leslie Renee looks very good. It may be better than its sib Shores of Time. Do you have both so that you can compare? Is Kansas City Gold free of virus? So many of the classic cannas are now infected.

KING CITY GOLD (CANNA) is virus free. I was quite worried when I heard all the stories about the virus and even some growers not selling. The only thing that got a few leaves of the cannas was the JP's. A few weeks ago I saw some of the leaves looking like that were eaten in just some small areas. Finally I got a couple of them while they were snacking.

I have WREN'S SONG which is another sib to LR and SOT. I was told that SOT may not be a good choice for here but can't remember the reason the folks gave.
Isn't it odd how of the 3 sibs only one is registered as a SEV. The other 2 are registered as DOR. I would have thought the 2 DOR's would be the better choice.

Light of the World and Leslie Renee are really nice. They seem to have held up well with the rain. You do seem to have lots of buds yet.

Your blooms still look good, I like them all. MEMORABLE KISS may not be Memorable Kiss, but it is really pretty.

They are all very pretty and it dont look like the rin has messed them up.Sure wish I could say MONDAY BLOOMS ON A RAINY DAY, but,The 3 blooms I had today didnt even look like a pretty daylily.FIERY MOMENT bloomed again.Might have been its last reblooms.was so hot outside I didnt look to see if any more buds was left.And rain, I been wondering just what is rain the last few months, because we sure have not had enough to comment about.It did come a little shower Saturday evening, but had more lightening and thunder then anything.It was trying to make us thing we was going to get a lot of rain, but, didnt get very much, Close to a half inch and a hr later the ground was dry as powder again.

All looking great in spite of the rain, I think the not Memorable Kiss bloom is also pretty but it is frustrating when you don't get what you ordered.

I got MK in the fall of 2009. In 2010 it bloomed, but I wasn't certain the bloom looked right but thought, give it another year. I don't think it is a soil/temp etc issue. Hopefully the hybridizer can tell me what it really is so I can mark it otherwise, it goes to the land of unknowns.
