how much do you pay for childcare?
Comments (9)Since you wanted the "fair market value" of child care.... Because you have your own kids, I would equate your situation to an in-home day care and not to a nanny in the home of the cared-for child. My 4 1/2 year child is at a Montessori preschool/day care for four days a week. This costs $1040 per month. I also had my older son at a different preschool/day care when he was 4. That school costs $679 per month for full time (4 to 5 days a week). The teachers and the curriculum were not as good at the previous school, and we did not return. As you can see, there is a significant variability of the cost even in the same city. BTW, when we had a full time nanny at our house without a child of her own, she charged $15.00 per hour plus benefits and taxes for two kids. (This is the going rate in our city.) She came to our house, fed them, dressed them, cared for the kids laundry, and did some cooking and cleaning. I know a neighbhor that pays $10.00 per hour under the table. I do not think your sister is getting quite this degree of service since you are NOT at her house where she can run out with the breakfast dishes on the table with the child still sleeping, which is what we did. I do not have any personal experience with in-home day care. What I would do is to find out how much the in-home day care cost in your geographic area and charge about that much. However, you also need to consider that your sister will not be able to deduct the child care credit, which is up to $5000.00 per year per family, unless you declare the amount she pays you in YOUR income. Most child care centers will charge a stiff penalty for late pick up because the staff needs to get home. Many charge $1.00 per minute in our city. Hope these numbers help....See Morewhat would you pay for these nightstands on CL?
Comments (16)Here's the thing on asking about the price over the phone or in email........ If seller says, "Make Offer" you really have no starting point. And depending on condition, you might offer more or less, right? So, when I ask about what they are thinking, it gives me the info I need to decide whether even to go view or not. If I wanted those stands and the person said $175 for the pair, and I don't have $175 to spend, then, there's no point wasting my time or theirs. I just say, well, they are out of my league. However, if they say $90 for the pair and I have $90 to spend, then, I can at least go check them out. If Parma is right on the detailing, and Lorrie Kay is right about Fabulous, then, I will hand them the cash and walk away happy. But if the white film is damage, they are shaky and there's loose veneer, then, at that point, I might still think I can use them, offer $45 and see what happens. But no matter how nice or how valuable or how perfect, if That Seller thinks they are worth more money than I have to spend, there's not going to be a deal. Red...See MoreAny Info? How Much To Pay?
Comments (11)Yeah, I'm beginning to think $150 is generous. I think they are asking a lot because they don't know brass went out and now its coming back. They could be about 3 cycles behind... Funny, I just called to her to make an appointment to go see it. A man answered. He said "Craigslist ad?". No you must have the wrong number. This is the ______s." I hung up. That is the name on the email from the son who listed it for her. I think someone is selling off the furniture without her husband knowing. lol I sent a note to the son. Told him what happened. She just emailed me. Odd, she also sent a picture. But it is one that I have seen on a blog all styled-up. I called her out on that...somehow, she won't want to sell it to me when I get done. Comments (19)Interesting meeting with seller. Turned out to be a female. She met me in town with the tray, as she lived way out in another county. I ended up paying her the full price because of this. She was of German decent. She and her husband met when he was in the military working insurance for the government. They lived all around Europe and spent their 1st anniversary in Libya some 47 years ago. Some of their local friends presented the brass tray table to them as a gift for their anniversary. The center designs mean something like "happy home and happy life." The woman got emotional saying that her husband died 5 years earlier at the age of 65. She also told me that her daughter died last year at the age of 41. She now has custody of her 17 year old granddaughter and they are thinking of moving back to Germany when the GD graduates. Very sweet woman and I am glad to have a back story on my purchase. :)...See MoreBoopadaboo
