And what color white are your cabinets? Are they Dover White, Arctic White, Linen White, China White, Decorator's White, etc...

This is one of those situations where you just have to go to the store and pick out a dozen or so potential white paint chips and bring them home to see what they look like in your space. Lighting is so different and there are so many different whites that matching white cabinets has to be done on site. Stick up the paint chips here and there to see how they look. Toss the "no way"s. When you get down to just a couple you might even want to buy sample cans and preview them larger before you decide.

If I were you, I'd consider a complimentary color that isn't a direct match for your cabinets. What color do you have in adjacent rooms? How would that look in the kitchen? How about a white that tends towards green or blue or yellow or beige? As long as you're at the paint store, bring home lots of color possibilities and see what tickles your fancy. Sometimes the most unexpected color will just jump off the wall and say, "choose me!"

I think the easiest approach would be to paint the walls the same color as the cabinets. Trying to match whites can drive one mad.

I agree with the post from benjensbride. I think you should just use the same white.
