Crayola color garden - help me think : )
Comments (9)I don't think your plan is weird at all. The color scheme you describe is fairly close to what I've used in my subtropical bed (a.k.a. the Victor/Victorian Garden): My advice for any planting that concentrates on one or a few flower colors - toss in a splash of something different for variety and refreshment (I've had blues, a bit of white etc.). And don't worry about sticking to any orthodox set of colors or hues*; experiment boldly and Christopher Lloyd will be looking down with a smile on his face. As far as blue goes, I suggest massing enough to compete with the hot-colored plants, especially with paler blues. I like Caryopteris incana (an annual here) for late-season flowering. Tall old-fashioned ageratum is another idea. I have a couple other blue-flowered annuals planned for this year which I will be secretive about until I see how they work out. Good blue and purple-flowered Salvias to try in addition to S. guaranitica include S. 'Purple Majesty", S. 'Indigo Spires' and S. urica. Obviously, don't miss out on hot and cool foliage to complement your hot scheme (especially silver and chartreuse). *to drop another name - Marco Stufano, the former head of the botanical garden at Wave Hill, once commented that he didn't restrict himself on color choices in plants because he wanted the whole giant Crayola (box)....See Morequilt marking with Crayola
Comments (6)Petalpatsy, The quilt I had trouble with was from my Dad's church. They wanted it quilted for a raffle. Turns out it was 20 years old. No marks were visible, so I quilted it with a pantograph pattern and I bound it. I rinsed it in the washer. Yellow marks everywhere! She had used a blue water-soluble marker, but the quilt sat in her hot attic for years! She was really ticked, but finally acknowledged that even she couldn't see the markings after those long years. The other horror story was from a long-arm quilter who had halogen lights over her machine. Halogen lights are white-hot bright and they can set any sort of marker in just a few hours. The quilt she left for a week under those lights never lost all the marks. I know these are both extreme cases, but better safe than sorry. Markers are safe, as long as you know the limitations....See MoreCrayola Brand?
Comments (1)Crayola crayons, markers and colored pencils are not acid free. THe paints and glitter glue are though. If you are going to laminate them, I don't think I would worry about it.Maybe you could color them with chalk, or acid free markers....See MoreSocks, I have info on coloring books site.
Comments (24)Got the computer back! I use Malwarebytes, but after what I call the "Coloring Book Virus" arrived on the computer, Malwarebytes did not pick it up nor did AVG Free. Too late I guess. Raven, I use IE and saw WOT on download.com but would rather download from the site you linked. I just have to make an account in order to hook up with the IE version of WOT? Also, if a person clicks on a site and WOT gives you a warning, isn't it too late by then? Not sure how it works. Moni, sweet picture of your granddaughter. Here's my current work. Hey, others can share work too!!...See Morewildchild2x2
