Comments (7)Dark drapes agains a lighter wall can look somber and it makes the drapes the focus of the room which is not what you want. If you don't want a pattern in the drapes choose a nubby, richly textured material that is not too different from the wall color. It will really open up your room. For a carpet I'd choose one that has only two colors (again I don't think I'd opt for brown) and then pick up one of the colors in the rug for accessories. Wall art can do a great deal to give a rich, warm look to the room and take it out of the ordinary zone....See MoreDark siding..will dark exterior light fixtures be ok?
Comments (13)We used real cedar shingle siding (panels) after looking at every possible alternative on the market. Love our siding. The siding was sent to a company here in Il where it was pre-dipped in the stain color of our choice...then installed. We used Cabot’s Burnt Hickory. I have many other color samples in my garage. One was a pretty subtle green. I can look for it tomorrow. http://cedar-valley.com/products/...See MoreMixing light and dark sofa in the living room?
Comments (9)It would depend on the colors, especially whether they are both in the warm or cool color range. That's an absolutely gorgeous rug, but I wonder why it's pressed against the fire place. With the colorful rug, I suspect it might be more restful to have two sofas of the same color. It's probably a matter of taste, but I would choose a rectangular glass and metal coffee table to give a cleaner design with the couches, and it would also give you more room to put things on it (and under it if there is a lower shelf. It would be helpful to see more of the fireplace and a different angle of the room to see where the one couch would go....See MoreNeed help to tie together a light fabric sofa with a dark leather sofa
Comments (10)Yes, it certainly CAN work. The throw that you have over the back of the leather sofa unites the two colors. Maybe try to find pillows that have both the leather sofa and the gray(?) sofa colors in them. Some pics shown HERE. Note the two prints that you have above the gray sofa - Here are more prints, but of stormy beach scenes. Look for fabrics/pillows in those tones. (If you can lower those prints to about 8" above the sofa, they'll look much better.) Stormy ocean prints...See Moreeeleetle
