Comments (18)I like the look of mountains. In fall we usually spend a few days in the Smokies, crunching leaves underfoot while roaming around the park and the mountains. Now that, I find breathtaking. When renting a house, my main criteria is a spectacular mountain view with a house attached to it! A couple of years ago we visited Wa and I thought it must be the prettiest place on earth. But our travels were limited to the Olympic Peninsula. Again, we gravitated to the mountains, rainforests, and west coast beaches. Vera's terrain in eastern Wa is totally different. I guess the only common denomonater is lush, beautiful flowers. But in think Vera could grow beautiful flowers in concrete. Most vacations we spend on ocean beaches- Caribbean in winter, Gulf beaches in summer. Why do I live in Ohio??? Comments (10)I agree with you plantlady2008. It is definitely not Lady Darlene. I thought the petals didn't look the same as Raspberry Ripple either, but my eyes are beginning to fail me ( no pun intended ). I am so disappointed that I did not obtain what I had purchased in Lady Darlene, as I think it is really attractive. My wife is not very fond of the one in question, and it will probably be composted this coming fall. Maybe I can get a proper Lady Darlene from a more reliable source, next time....See MoreSome July 17 blooms
Comments (12)Thanks everybody! Yep, fly is on the second from the right flower on the upper left sepal. Too much attention to that nasty thing ;) Chris, sorry to hear Choral Fantasy didn't last there. It was a bonus plant. Julia, thanks for your suggestion, several people suggested Firefox too. I should read about it. Mantis, about Russian Temple: this is the second good opening on it, not quite perfect but will do for me. And I think there are only a couple buds left. Bud count is low.. It was one of the plants from my disastrous 2012 fall order where all but two died. I thought this one died too, there was nothing after the winter, but then one little tiny shoot emerged and this year it grew into a medium size fan. And sent a scape. I bet there were less than 10 buds on it, I didn't count. And I'm pretty sure budcount will remain low. In spite of that I will keep it. I saw a pic from a northern garden several years ago and fell in love. Re clean bloom - I noticed this year there is very little splotchiness, even on the ones that usually have spots every year. Knock on wood....See Moresome BOLD July 5th blooms today.................:)
Comments (7)Siloam Dean's Circle really stands out to me this morning, with that very round flower & mesmerizing green eye. I have 3 of the Tuscawilla series, they have really done well for me. At one time really wanted Snowdrift, that picture has me wanting it again :)...See More- 6 years ago
