Does anyone buy formica topped dinettes anymore?
Comments (5)Clt3, Apparently Cochrane has come out with a new line of formica-type topped tables; was told there were many calls for it. However, there was so little on the floor that I just can't order without seeing. I appreciate your response; obviously it has held up well for your MIL. I'm still thinking about it. smile, I have looked at Bermex & Canadel & was told about the safety period of 24 hours for spills etc. Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Are you planning to purchase a stained or mixed color finish? Just curious. Also, great idea to order a "test chair". As I told Clt3, I was also impressed with the Cochrane brand, but since there was not much on the floor, I hesitate ordering w/o seeing. I have been able to see a good bit of the Bermex & Canadel & it looks great. Thanks for your input....See MoreDoes Anyone Do Chair Rails in Rooms Anymore???
Comments (11)I too am wanting to do chair rail but for the kids rooms and I absolutly love those photos so much maybe I should do it for my dining room too. To me it's a traditional classic look but my house is medeterranian style so I don't think it necessarily goes with my style but I love it and am seeing it more in more in Pottery Barn cataloges so I don't think it's "out". My son really wants a red room. I can't paint an entire room red, it would drive us all nuts and probablly not help to calm him down. But I was thinking of doing red at the bottom and then 2/3 of white to tone it down with navy blue accents. Is red just too hard of a color for bedroom? I could also do navy with white and do red accents if it's too much (like the drapery and picture frames). The two kids rooms have a hallway that runs between them with a bath in the center, would you copy the chairrail then for her room too? I wanted to do a light fresh stem green color in her room because her chair, bed, drapes, rug are pink. Thanks for any input on how to pull this off....See MoreDoes anyone have oak cabinets anymore?
Comments (39)@sombreuil I guess I’m an outlaw as I just put in limestone floor in Versailles pattern on the first floor. I used to love oak and hate the orange color but now I have a huge aversion to wood kitchen as my in laws have oak everywhere. Their house is so dark that I carry a flashlight with me because I keep tripping over all the small carpets underfoot. Their cabinets were custom but the oak has gone orange. It was hellish trying to find paint to tone down the kitchen. With oak walls, ceiling beams, floors, cabinets, trims and all furniture (big and small) in dark oak, it’s very claustrophobic and oppressive to be in the house. We remodeled their house recently due to flood and they put everything back the same and added more oak in any area that did not have it before. My advice is choose what you love but use moderation in the amount of wood....See MoreDoes anyone do white cabinets and white island anymore?
Comments (14)i actually think the trend of white cabs/stained island will end up being dated sooner than later....that said I'm still considering it for the practicality of the island being the busiest part of the kitchen with seating on one side and sink/dw/trash on the working side. I think it will help keeping the island looking better longer than if I had white all over. Still prefer the look of white/white overall....See Morevictoria smith
