Milky Spore and bT

So I’m dealing both with Japanese Beetles, and with various caterpillars.

I’ve seen Milky Spore (for JB’s) referred to as ‘bacillus’ – as well as bT, which is for caterpillars, and is bacillus thuringiensis. I assume these are two separate things, right?

What is the best timing to spray these? I know Milky Spore can eventually have a lasting effect on future generations of JBs (I realize they can still fly in from elsewhere) – does bT do the same thing for caterpillars?
