Any large pest (animal) that can kill a rose bush?

Our family was out on vacation for 10 days and when we came back, I found one rose bush at the end of a line of 5 that had died - like you would find if it had been not watered or as if it had been sprayed with plant killer. I also found three good sized poop in our yard, not far from where this rose bush was.

This was in our fenced in back yard. The plants are well established having been planted probably close to 10 years ago. We used to have dogs but they've all since passed on for the past couple of years. So it surprised me to find poop too big to be from a squirrel. Could have come from a cat, though.

It wasn't raging hot the time we were out (mostly low to mid 80s), and we do have automatic sprinklers (orbit b-hyve ) that went on maybe once or twice in those 10 days (I trust this automatic system to work properly about 95% based on having observed it through the last 9 months). There is a rose bush 3 ft from this one that looks perfectly normal, and a bunch of geraniums at the foot of the dead rose bush (practically touching the base) that are also perfectly fine.

We also have gardeners in weekly.

Any thoughts on what could have happened to them? Could any skunk or something like that (raccoon) have sprayed it and caused it to die? Always a possibility that the gardeners had week killer spray drift onto this one, but finding the poop was very curious.
