Exterior railing for Tudor home...need ideas ASAP please!
Comments (9)I do have this photo. It shows the Lanai/ Juliet Porch and the unfinished exterior of the addition. Above the garage door is the french doors leading to the Lanai (left) from the Master bedroom. The unfinished addition is now bricked the same as the house, and the two dormers are stucco-ed and painted brown. We will add limestone detailing in the peaks of the dormers as shown in one of the dormers on the front of the house, as well as trimboards around the window and doorway. That is a future project though.... =) I can add a current photo, however, the tree is fully leafed out now so there really is not much viewing of the Lanai/ Juliet Porch. But do let me know if that would help. Three D: sorry for my confusing post. This will probably make more sense to you now! Yes, we have a permit out for all of this work, but a neighbor called to complain that our lanai/ juliet porch did not have a railing so the city is wanting us to install one immediately even though no one obviously uses it with no railing. Kind of a CYA request on their part and when the city makes a request, well...we do it =) More info: we will need to have certain specifications for height and also no more than 4" between slats/ ballisters. I am most interested in any opinions of what styling we should look for to coordinate with the Tudor styling. Obviously, traditional tudors do not have porches so I have little to go on for ideas of what would look nice. Hubby prefers all metal; I have no idea what I would like other than something more ornate than just a plain deck railing. Thanks for any help! Comments (3)Navy blue might be nice, if you are interested in a darker color. I can't really say why but I feel that the current colors are quite wrong for the roof and the brick. ETA: going back and looking at the first picture, I think it is the brown of the beams/dividers that isn't quite the right brown and that annoys me. Creams/beiges will look good with the brick but I am not sure about and don't think so with the roof...See MoreExterior Colors - Tudor Cottage Style
Comments (3)I like the paper craft for the main color. Both trim colors would look nice but the pumpkin would bring in the orange in the brick planter. Really cute house!...See MoreHelp me choose exterior colors for my Tudor style house!
Comments (7)I'd call it Tudor, but its probably more accurately a storybook cottage. Whatever you want to call it, what a neat house. It's adorable! I'd prefer a light stucco with dark trim. It's just what looks right to me. The green you have now reminds me a little of the green used in the brick and timber frame farmhouses in northern Germany. My grandfather told me that they painted the wood green for good luck (or maybe it was to blend in with the moss) https://farm9.static.flickr.com/8689/17227343571_5c078f319f_b.jpg...See Morekarebrad
