I really appreciate the tutorial and your comments. Just got back from the store and got my supply of cups the way and kind I want. They did refund on some they still stock from 2 years ago, hadn't opened them, that was nice of them, bought more than I took back. This one particular store brand was $2.79 for 50, 16 oz, 3" rim, don't know how deep, a little over 5 cents a cup, got 6 packages (some for next year and have some other bigger ones left over), still have to burn holes. I don't drink enough of that from convenience stores to save them up. Yes, I was looking at those smaller red cups, see I have a few, and the store had packets with lids like mine to fit those. Those would be nice, too, I thought, but enough for this year and I have a bunch of 4" pots I can use. The reason I like these store brand ones is that they fit perfectly, 18, into the daisy trays. Darned if I didn't leave 1 snap on lid at the store in doing that transaction, upsets my sense of order . . . maybe I can find one free that will fit lol. So silly to be like that. Picked up xtra baggies, too, store brand had flaps, didn't want those, regular brand were $1.78 for 150. I think the cups eat up soil pretty fast though even at only 3 inches once it's pressed down some and take longer to fill, plant counting out seeds than jugs and 2 liters. You just were able to kind of sprinkle your hosta seeds; I have to watch some of my expensive ones; others don't matter, pinches and sprinkles for those. So now to get 4 more bags of soil and a couple more things, and I should be set when my seeds come and the second wave; I pretty much have run out of perennials to plant and am waiting until mid or late March for the annuals.

I do pre-soaked 50/50 perlite/potting mix in clear containers. Then add an 3/4 inch of 100% fine dry vermiculite on top to seal out any fungus gnats or moisture loss. Then place them in a plastic ziplock bag. Once I see the roots in the cup and buds are starting to swell I take them out of the bag and put them on a south facing window (use suction cup shampoo holders). I put the clear cups in red solo cups to absorb heat and block UV from damaging the roots. Then I can pull the clear cups out and take a peek at development anytime. For watering if any pools at the bottom of the cup its too wet. If nothing condenses on the inside of the clear cup in full sun its too dry.

Michal, thanks for taking the time and making the video. Whats amazing about fig wod is there are so many many ways to root them. Some work better than others for folks but having so many ways is great and gives one options to use what they have on hand and not spend a lot in doing so if there are budget constraints for some of us. I would suppose the cheapest way and its worked for me is one you mention in the video just stick the stick inground yup it works, one spring day i did this amongst my hostas and it rooted just fine after a good spell. For the curious and i never added up percentages to see how one worked over the other but they have all worked for me in past seasons i dont really root anymore scion as im basically done with that aspect if i need a duplicate i airlayer now off parent tree for myself. Ive rooted brown and green scion mostly brown in Spahgnum Moss Expandable Peat Cups (used for rooting garden seeds) Water Dirt and or potting soil (simply stuck inground or in parent pot) Perlite and potting soil Simple baggie method with newpaper as wrap ive also seen long time ago a bunch of sticks put in a 5 gallon bucket filled with water an aquarium airstone in a garage and most rooted. As i was doing this in seasons past i never did the bleach thing it just never occured to me i just rinsed the sticks under tap water to clean them and never had any mold problems suppose im lucky in that department after what ive been reading last season or so. Ive had dissapointments oh yes some scion just not do anything, some turn mushy and soft (the green ones ) and some make it to the cups and get overwatered by me only to go kaput! Hopefully in near future i will be getting last pieces scion that i will be rooting i know some will say yeah right but for me its true least rooting scion and for the last time i will use baggie, expandable peat pot and SM and i will get 1 plant to grow i should i better im confident although im not an expert then im finally done with scion and time to thin out a plant or 2 i dont want for 1 reason or another. I suppose many of you will come to this and some will carry on and keep going those that have the room perhaps and even those that do not . In end its all fun much fun for me i never got to technical with rooting them but thats just me as we are all different . Hi, Ann ... Please visit the adenium forum when you get a chance. Since you are the original poster, I'll answer you here. If you sowed 19 seeds and they all germinated, that is an outstanding germination rate. The seedlings look healthy ... Congratulations! Regarding the 3 that may be dying ... I believe what I see is 2 seedlings with damaged shriveled tips. Usually, what causes this is pulling on the seed casings or "hats" ... I have just killed one doing just that. It's best to defer from this practice. The casings will eventually fall off on their own. Once the tip is damaged, the seedling cannot produce leaves for photosynthesis and will begin to lose color & die. The white seedling is an albino and will die for the same reason. Enjoy your remaining seedlings. I hope you get a nice variety of blooms. The yogurt cups will keep them for 3 months, after which you can pot up to 3-4" pots.
