OK, I have to say something about all this meddling with mother n
Comments (15)This year I planted 16 varieties of peppers, both sweet and hot. There are at least 2 plants of each. They have been in the ground or in pots since mid March when we had an early warm-up. Most of the plants flowered while still very small. At that point I decided to allow one of each variety go ahead and do it's thing, and then pinched the buds off all the rest, just once. In virtually every instance, the 'early bird' plants stayed small and only produced a couple or three peppers - so far. Almost all the other plants are bigger, in some cases much bigger and have many more peppers, though they are taking a month longer to ripen. A few show no difference in production or plant size. But you know what? I'm happy! I got the early ones "outta my system", and now have the masses to do with as I please until next year. The best of both worlds! PS For the first time California Wonder Bell peppers are producing the biggest, most beautiful bell peppers I've ever grown. I almost didn't even try them but they always show up first in the nurseries around here and I couldn't resist. I might even have to grow them from seed next year! :)...See Moreflower & veg gardens in russia...
Comments (9)Thank you Thank you! My grandparents came over from Russia. It took my grandfather 11 years to get $$$ to send for my Bobba(grandmother)She had such a lovely garden and got me interested.Everytime I visited we strolled down the brick path and she named each plant in her Russian accent,She had Peachessie & Prune trees,Tomateees , cuckuuumber, snowballs, roseees.(Her pronunciations!) She always clipped an apronful of roses for me before I headed home. Now I have a brick walkway to my gardens and teach my grandchildren about plants and wildlife when they visit....See MoreNosy, meddling rangers at Dos Picos, CA
Comments (15)Yes, the snow is s'posed to melt by Saturday, the sun is shining today, (well it was a half hour ago)and temp is going up to 50 degrees! This in W. Pa.! Must be warming up--the snow lady Hula girl across the street is melting and leaning to one side! Her Terrible Towel is drooping, too! too much celebrating after the Steelers victory! This thing about nosy, meddling Ramgers reminds me of the time we camped at a State Park in Eastern Pa. The shower rooms, and the terlet areas were a mess! Vandals (probably unwatched campers kids! I say that because those kids on their bikes almost ran me down, on the paved walkways, and roadways! They rode thru the bathrooms, and on the grass, and in other campers areas, with nary a care for other folks property! Some vandal had broken off the knobs of the sink faucets and shower controls! The outside water faucets couldn't be used for the same reason. I watched the vandals on their fancy bicycles, riding thru flower beds, on newly planted grass areas, and into the little store! Yes--into the store! And defied anyone who told hem to get out! And, with todays thinking, if anybody had dared to stop them--that person would have either been beaten on by their parents, or had their own camper trashed! And, what were the parents doing while all that was going on?? Yep--sitting at their campsite, playing cards and having some cool ones, with no one watching the kids! So you complain about nosy, meddling, Rangers spoiling your fun! by: Rusty Jones...See MoreKaspershy Anti Virus is now suspect re Russia
Comments (33)To show I'm not being doctrinaire or stubborn, I'll contribute another layer to this story (if it is a story), a Washington Post piece (with a link to another in the NY Times) that suggest it was Israeli intelligence officers who discovered incriminating American NSA materials were present in Kaspersky's internal network during an unauthorized access to its systems. The reporting remains somewhat disjointed enough that I'm not ready to remove my hands from my hips or abandon my "wait for better info" thoughts but here it is. Part of what doesn't make sense to me is that Kaspersky made public the breach when it happened and gave details about it as one of its periodic security releases. That's not at all what might be expected from an entity acting as a front for a sovereign intelligence service that would be trading blows with the intelligence services of other countries in the normal course of daily business. Unless, that was part of an attempt at misdirection to disguise deliberate Kaspersky involvement, by acting naively. Who knows? Israeli intelligence discovered Kaspersky in possession of NSA material...See More- 9 years agolast modified: 9 years ago
