A reclining sofa that doesn't look like a reclining sofa??
Comments (20)We looked at the Lazy Boy recliners - the looks of some would work for us, but they weren't very comfortable for us. We got Ekornes Stressless sofas. They recline and are very comfortable. They don't have an integrated foot rest, there are separate ottomans to use with them. We got the theater seating grouping because we like having at least one arm rest per seat, but you can get them in a normal couch configuration. Ours are large (wider seat) but they also have a medium size if you need more compact. In depth (front to back) they are pretty compact because they use a metal frame which allows for a thin back. There is a high back if you prefer that. We got the low back because it makes the room feel molre open and it's high enough for us and we got a couple of their recliners for when we want a higher back. They are pretty expensive but I expect them to be a very long term purchase....See MoreRecliner Quandary - Is it possible to please DH in style?
Comments (42)So, I think of everything I have seen, I really like the Bradington Young Barcelo recliner, linked in the post by gooster: It has the coveted swivel feature that DH wants, it comes in a gorgeous variety of leathers, and it doesn't have that typical recliner pillow-back look, which I like! The saga continues, though . . . because I can't find it on the floor in any store. I have found local stores that carry the B-Y brand, however, none have this particular model in stock for DH to try out. DH insists on trying out the chair, and I don't blame him. Especially given the expense of a chair like this, we would hope it could be viewed in person someplace. It doesn't help that we live in rural Wisconsin, I'm sure. So I called the B-Y company, left a message and am awaiting a call back. Hopefully, we can see this chair before purchasing. We are willing to travel, within reason, to see it. So close, and yet so far!...See MoreRecliners that don't look like recliners
Comments (26)I recently bought mine from LazyBoy. I never thought I'd buy a recliner again because, like you, I don't like that "puffy, typical recliner look" in my decor. But, this looks ok, it's a smaller recliner and goes all the way back. And you have a choice of hundreds of fabrics. Plus, it was a very fair price for a decent piece of furniture. My husband LOVES it and it looks nice too....See MoreHigh back power reclining sofa
Comments (4)Cathi thanks for your reply! It's actually the height that is most important to me. Unfortunately B-Y doesn't seem to have the high back (unless I missed it)....See Morewritersblock (9b/10a)
