The sales reps favorites are what they get the best commissions on. You'll have an easier time all around if you get an oven and a separate microwave. Is there a reason you really need a combo? You could put a counter top microwave in a niche above the oven and make your own combo.

From your list, I'd guess Bosch has the best oven.

I've been very happy with my Bosch oven in the past and in my new build I'm getting Bosch again. I agree. Don't get a oven/mw combo. If one breaks you're out of luck on both.

Speed ovens are absolutely awesome -- for some types of dishes. So, you certainly can make an argument for a combined microwave and convection oven.

But they also aren't particularly cheap. You can buy a no-frills microwave for $100. If you want a speed oven, it'll cost you a ton more. This is perfectly justifiable for your main kitchen. It is a lot less justifiable for an "overflow" space where the microwave will only be used a couple of times a year.

For our new kitchen, we are going to get a Miele speed oven. But we opted for the lowest end model, which doesn't have a fancy graphical user interface. That cuts the price in about half, but it still costs about $2k. The reduced user interface also goes along with a small reduction in features (e.g. lack of surround heating). This is not a problem for us, as we will also get a combination steam oven. We expect the latter to be a much more useful appliance overall.

So, carladr, if money is not an issue, and you are dead set on needing both a convection oven and a microwave in the same compact unit, then you can't go wrong with a Miele speed oven. If this really isn't ever going to be a main kitchen, then get a cheap $100 microwave an replace it every 10 years (it'll last that long with only occasional use). You can then use the main kitchen for baking.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I chose the KitchenAid micro/wall oven unit over GE and Bosch. It's not a convection microwave but I don't need that feature. The wall oven is convection (all of the combo units seem to be). I recognize I am taking a risk if one of the ovens breaks, then the whole unit needs to be replaced. Since this is a secondary kitchen, I'm willing to take that risk. I needed a fridge as well which will be located beside the wall ovens and the KitchenAid fridges had similar features than the other two brands, nicer styling, are made in the USA and have a lower price point.
