Take your Agavoides out of the water. This could start problems.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get a bag of perlite and cactus mix. Idk where you live, but if you can I find pumice I personally think pumice is better than perlite, but perlite will do the job:). Get terra cotta pots. They should have drainage holes. Most people want to get pretty glazed pots, but those glazed pots don't allow for evaporation. Also don't get huge pots. Get appropriate sizes. Most succulents like to be crammed for space:).

A mixture of 60% perlite or pumice with 40% cactus mix is good. The mix will be really light, but that's what you need for drainage and airflow. The one with roots just plant into the mix. Start off with morning sun and afternoon shade. In its condition I would give morning sun for awhile. That may be enough to keep it compact. I would water this one in 3 days. Always make sure the mix is dry before watering again. I mean all the way dry. Not just the top inch:). Easy way to check is with a wooden skewer. Put the skewer all the way down the pot. Keep it there for a couple mins. If that thing comes up damp anywhere, no water.

The others should callus over, out of water for a few days. Then you can set on top of some mix. No water till roots form. Keep these guys in filtered light. No direct sun. Once roots form you can begin to water and start with morning sun. Don't go lifting everyday looking for roots. This will slow down the process. People always ask "how will I know roots are there if I don't look?". You will know the plant will perk up, and most likely start getting new growth in the center:). If I missed anything or your confused just ask. Hopefully you will be able to keep these special plants for a long time. Goodluck:).

Most if not all succulents don't need water to produce roots. These had zero water.

Water roots are different from soil roots. Easier to save the time and just plant them. Better to keep fairly dry because with little or no roots the water will just sit there and invite rot.

I have a Sempervivum from a friend's wedding a few years back and it is really flourishing. It's quite fun to send update photos to my friend.

Good advice above. The main things are drainage holes in the pot, well draining mix that does not retain water, and plenty of sunlight.

When measuring your mix, use any old cup or scoop. A stadium cup will do. Fill one scoop with perlite, one scoop with cactus and succulent soil and mix them up in a bucket or other container. It doesn't have to be precise, but it is better to sort of measure instead of eyeballing it. In the end, it will look something like this - really chunky!

You can get 4-inch clay (or terra cotta) pots at home depot or Walmart for under a dollar. I personally prefer using the azalea pots. I like them being wider than tall because I am prone to tipping things over. LOL This is a 5-inch azalea pot and a 4-inch pot to show the difference.

Be sure to ask if you didn't understand something Kara explained to you. We don't mind and we want you to succeed. Especially with plants that are sentimental.

And hey, when there's something like this with plants it can be stressful. When one of my succulents was rotting, I panicked so much! Then the people who helped me let me know to relax, take it easy, and know that it will most likely be okay. I mean I didn't really listen and the succulent ended up dying but not calming down was a part of why I didn't try and fix it. I still panic a little but then I remember to clam down. So don't panic, we will try and help you as much as possible and your succulents are probably going to become strong happy plants:) good luck, and remember, this is fun as long as you don't stress it too much! Try not to panic and take it easy;)
