It seems to work better for a thread to limit the discussion to one general area at a time. The easiest way to do this is to make separate threads for the front yard, back yard, side yard, etc. (however you wish to break it down based on the property needs.) If you create all those threads at once, it might be more discussion than you care to deal with. You might start with the most important area and not introduce the next area until the first one is more or less under control. The way we will understand your property is through pictures. In the case of a front yard, you'll likely want to start with one introductory picture that is from a distance away -- showing everything -- so we can see how things fit together. Then, we'll need to see another perspective and more detail. Move to the center of the yard with the camera and take ALL pictures from that point, only pivoting, Do not move from that location. Start by aiming the camera straight left of the house for the first picture. Continue panning rightward taking SLIGHTLY overlapping pics until you've done a full 360*. (We'll even be seeing the view across the street.) Post all those pictures. Now, obviously, I don't know what your specific concerns are or what your property is like. You may need to adapt those directions to fit your needs and the conditions. When taking pictures its helpful to move any vehicles out of the way first if they are blocking any important elements. Try to take pictures when there are not strong shadows running across the yard or the light is too dim. At midday when the sun runs behind a cloud is about the perfect time to take pictures, but that might be a difficult condition to wait for. Whatever approximates it within reasonably tolerances is usually good enough. Also, use a camera that takes SHARP pictures. Fuzzy images take the fun out of looking at people's pictures. In the case of a back yard, if you're concerned about foundation planting at the back of the house, then you'll probably want to photograph the equivalent of what was described above for the front yard, but instead of 360*, you'd only need to take 180* with the house showing in the middle of the scene. If you're concerned about the perimeter of the yard, then you'd stand next to the back wall of the house and take a 180* span facing away from the house. (The back wall of house would show in first and last picture.)

New England - outside Boston. We have a bed (3.5 feet wide) that runs along a 7 foot fence in our back yard. The tree(s) will be planted in the bed and close to the fence so it can’t be too full/wide ...hence the upright conical fence.
