I'll post what I added in December: *Turkey bones from hosting Christmas at our house *All the napkins, paper plates, food scraps, shrimp tails, etc from hosting Xmas *About 100 lbs of UCG's from cleaning up around TCF Stadium from the MN Vikings game after the Metrodome collapse- there was a Caribou Coffee tent outside. *The usual food scraps, veggie peelings and coffee grounds *Guinea pig bedding and poo *Food scraps and peelings from Xmas at a relatives house (I've been planting the compost infection/ guilt in almost a lot of my relatives/coworkers and get them to save me their scraps that would have been wasted to the landfill! :-)

I just got back. I had to get on the horse from the back of the pick up truck. LOL! A short ride, but I'll probably still be sore tomorrow. Several of my friends are afraid to ride since they have gotten up in years. I have a friend who is a pretty big gal and her horse spooked and tossed her on her fannie. She still has horses, but She said She will never ride again. It was a perfect day. Now, I'm looking forward to making Turkey Tetrazzi tonight. I sent Main Man to the store for some ingredients. We have a 40 year old Meyer lemon tree here.....produces tons of lemons all year long. Our neighbor has an orange tree and a tangerine tree and the people down the street has a fig tree and a quince. The plum tree next door is nearing it's end but we have enjoyed great plums for years.

Lilyfinch, that's gorgeous! Really, everybody's pictures are spectacular! I grow zinnias with my roses, have never had a problem with mildew, I suspect it might be a different kind. I love zinnias for being so easy to grow, and for providing such lovely color in the worst heat of summer. I particularly like the purples and deep pinks, but they are all beautiful. Lilyfinch, you mentioned your problem with deer eating your sunflowers. I have found ALL the critters (squirrels, rabbits, etc) like sunflowers. What works for me is to start them off in pots right next to the house, where I can keep them sprayed with Liquid Fence and the like til they are big enough (over a foot) to fend for themselves, then plant them out. Don't know if this would work with deer (my garden is fenced) but it might be worth a try? Farmerduck, I actually grow zinnias outside of my deer fence and find they don't much bother them, weird huh? I guess everybody's local deer have different tastes.
